NFL's Best OLB: Houston vs. Miller

Got into a debate with a Donkey fan regarding this topic earlier this week, but I love it. I think it's one that can be argued both ways, but personally I take a healthy Houston every day over a healthy Miller. Place your vote and make your own case below.

Things to keep in mind:

Justin Houston career numbers:
- 64 starts
-56 sacks (2011: 5.5 in 10 starts, 2012: 10.0 in 16 starts, 2013: 11.0 in 11 starts, 2014: 22.0 in 16 starts, 2015: 7.5 in 10 games)
- 3 interceptions
- 25 passes defensed
- 8 forced fumbles/ 5 recoveries
- 1 touchdown (INT), 1 safety
- Hasn't been flagged for anything since the 2013 season

Von Miller career numbers:
- 72 starts
- 60 sacks (2011: 11.5 in 15 starts, 2012: 18.5 in 16 starts, 2013: 5.0 in 9 starts, 2014: 14.0 in 16 starts, 2015: 11.0 in 16 starts)
- 1 interception
- 10 passes defensed
- 17 forced fumbles/ 5 recoveries
- 1 touchdown (INT), 1 touchdown (fumble recovery), 0 safeties
- Consistently penalized, often for personal fouls

For me, considering the numbers..... I still take Houston. Statistically, I can argue he's been better in every phase of the game except for forcing fumbles. Miller does have the playoff success to attribute in his argument, but Houston of course didn't hardly play in this year's playoffs. Regardless, this a fun topic no matter the time of year. So, who do you take?

I would have liked to have seen the chiefs and broncos in the afc championship game though. Would have been a cool matchup.
I'm sorry, but this is bullshit. I hate the whole "macho" thing about making excuses. We're not on the team, so we can look at it objectively and see that it's hard to go into NE and win without a few of your best players.

Mack hit both sides of the line that day, he also had ten other sacks which is one less than Miller's season total. Mack also played the first half of the season with a bad groin.

Mack is a better all around player than Miller for sure. I think he's better than Houston as well.

Can someone get a gif of the play where Mack got faked out completely by Alex on that 4th and 1?

Or how about a play from the same game where Maclin ran the jet sweep and was by Mack before he even knew what happened?

Seriously dude, cmon. Mack hasn't done anything yet to suggest he's better than Miller or Houston. Not saying he can't get there, but he's not there yet.

Injuries are a convenient excuse.

The Chiefs won 11 straight without their best offensive player and what, like 5 straight without their best defensive player.

The broncos had injuries, the pats had injuries, every team has injuries.

It aucks, but it's why you build depth

You're right. To say Houston, Charles, Maclin, Ware, Gaines, Morse and LDT would've made a 7 point difference is bullshit.

Did the Patriots have any injuries?

Would the game have likely gone different? Sure.

Would the chiefs have won? Dunno.

Losing our key guys killed us that game but make no mistake about it, we beat ourselves.

I'm still pissed off at Dee Ford. He could have changed the game from the start.

They would have made a difference, for sure.

I just think it's not as easy as saying had they played we'd have won. It would have increased the likelihood for sure, but again, so would have brady being at 100 percent etc.

Just give us two out of Houston/Charles/Maclin/Ware and we win that game. No doubt in my mind.

As for Brady, I have my doubts about the "ankle sprain" and him and the rest of the team had a week off to heal up. They earned it though, so no complaints there.

Higher Number of Punts Inside the 20. Higher Number of Fair Catches. Fewer Number of Returns. Fewer Number of Return Yards. Fewer Out of Bounds. The only thing Britton managed to do better was punt 9 more times.

While true, our players didn't show up. Dee Ford could have changed the game from the beginning but missed a simple sack.
