NFL's Best OLB: Houston vs. Miller

Got into a debate with a Donkey fan regarding this topic earlier this week, but I love it. I think it's one that can be argued both ways, but personally I take a healthy Houston every day over a healthy Miller. Place your vote and make your own case below.

Things to keep in mind:

Justin Houston career numbers:
- 64 starts
-56 sacks (2011: 5.5 in 10 starts, 2012: 10.0 in 16 starts, 2013: 11.0 in 11 starts, 2014: 22.0 in 16 starts, 2015: 7.5 in 10 games)
- 3 interceptions
- 25 passes defensed
- 8 forced fumbles/ 5 recoveries
- 1 touchdown (INT), 1 safety
- Hasn't been flagged for anything since the 2013 season

Von Miller career numbers:
- 72 starts
- 60 sacks (2011: 11.5 in 15 starts, 2012: 18.5 in 16 starts, 2013: 5.0 in 9 starts, 2014: 14.0 in 16 starts, 2015: 11.0 in 16 starts)
- 1 interception
- 10 passes defensed
- 17 forced fumbles/ 5 recoveries
- 1 touchdown (INT), 1 touchdown (fumble recovery), 0 safeties
- Consistently penalized, often for personal fouls

For me, considering the numbers..... I still take Houston. Statistically, I can argue he's been better in every phase of the game except for forcing fumbles. Miller does have the playoff success to attribute in his argument, but Houston of course didn't hardly play in this year's playoffs. Regardless, this a fun topic no matter the time of year. So, who do you take?

Tight end, running back, qb, safety, dl would be close I'd imagine.

Denver's olbs are better, wrs are better, corners are better.

Offensive line would be close

Any time there is a poll pairing up a donkey vs a Chief, I'll always vote Chiefs.

Because **** Denver.

I'm a Chiefs fan. But I struggle to find one single position on offense or defense where I'd choose a Chiefs player over a Broncos.

They draft better and sign better free agents. Sorry if that hurts your sensitive feelings.
Sensitive feelings? L.O.L.

You want to talk about how great the Donkies are, go cheer for them. Oh wait, you already do.

There are several positions on the Chiefs that have far better players.

Of course, you aren't going to find that out for yourself so I'll point some out.

Dontari Poe - Better than any defensive lineman on either roster by a mile. Let's not make this some joke like it isn't the truth. Sure, he was legitimately injured this season at the onset, but that doesn't really matter. The fact is he has far more talent and is far more productive within his role than any other lineman on either team.

I'd argue that Wolfe and Jackson v. Howard and Bailey is about a wash but I'd give perhaps a slight edge to the Donks, who will likely lose Jackson, over the Chiefs who will likely lose Howard.

Travis Kelce - You tell me a better tight end on the Broncos roster. Ready, set, go. Okay, you can't. Move on.

Jamaal Charles - Light years better than any running back on either roster and it isn't even a conversation. The only factor that brings Charles down is his recent string of season-ending injuries. The Broncos use a pure committee approach, the Chiefs didn't before Charles' injury. Talent wise, you'd be grasping at straws to make an argument here.

Mitch Morse - Morse is better than Paradis by a mile. Only issue is the concussion.

Eric Berry - Easily better than any safety on the Broncos roster, it really is not a conversation.

Branch or Abdullah v. Stewart is pretty much a wash
Houston v. Miller is a wash
Hali v. Ware is a wash

Your thread about Talib is a joke, its arguable he isn't even the best CB on his own team more or less the entire league. At this point, I'd put Sean Smith pretty damn close overall. Peters is going to be better than any of them if he improves upon his play this year. I wouldn't trade CBs for the Chiefs system by a long shot.

I'd argue Alex Smith was better than any QB on the Broncos roster this season.

Dustin Colquitt is better than Britton.

Anthony Sherman just may be the best pure FB in the NFL, or at least is in the discussion for it. Not close.

The kickers are even.

Derrick Johnson v. Danny Trevathan is pretty even. Trevathan is much, much younger but I'm giving the current edge to DJ.

Brandon Marshall gets the definite nod over Josh Mauga.

Your only basic argument is that the Broncos have better guards and tackles than the Chiefs on offense and that their pair of good receivers trumps the Chiefs only having one good receiver. I'd put Maclin between Thomas and Sanders with Thomas being the best of the group, but even then all 3 are very different types of players.

You want to keep talking like an ass? Keep talking like an ass, I don't give a ****.

Let's start with an easy one. You sure like to use the term "a wash"...

First of all I don't really get your math when you say the production of two men on a football field equals the production of one but I suppose you're from some universe where 2=1... am I wrong?

But even so COMBINED Abdullah and Branch had 59 tackles, 1 interception and 5 passes defended.

ALONE Darian Stewart had 48 tackles, 1 interception and 10 passes defended.

It is NOT a wash. Stewart beats them both individually and combined.

-1

Miller is better than Houston. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt the Chiefs are paying Houston so much money but it just ain't worth it.

-2

Your best argument here is that Ware and Hali are even. Ware had more sacks in 4 less games but I'm actually going to side with the games played here and bounce the ball to Hali.

+1
