Cutting the cord. Questions

Hi All:

I'm firing Xfinity and getting fiber pulled to my house. I presently have and use their "TV" services to get local channels and a bunch of others. I really only use the locals and ESPN channels to watch Formula One. I also have a DVR.

How do I do the same with fiber? The outfit I'm getting doesn't offer TV.

Thanks!

You don't need individual buttons, gramps. Navigate to the Settings in the YoutubeTV app, click on Live Guide, and just adjust your channel listing to make those channels on top for easy access.

A lot of universal remotes have "blank" buttons that can be programmed to do a variety of functions, including quick access to streaming apps.

Yes, there is. Click on your account(little round icon) in the top right corner. Click Settings. Click Live Guide. Drag and drop to your preferred priority.

If it doesn't work on whatever weird device you're using, then use your computer.

Here, I'll just give you the damn link: https://tv.youtube.com/settings/liveguide

Yes you can use those to launch apps themselves. But grandpa Donger is wanting the equivalent of a TV remote with all the buttons taped off except for 3. You can't assign the buttons to individual stations within a streaming app.

With the YouTube channel guide you can customize the guide. Make your own guide. Call it something like Dongers fav's. Then select order channels by Dongers fav's. All your favorite channels will be at the top of the guide.

Another tip. If you have multiple family members using the app, you can add their email to your "Family." Then they can log in to YoutubeTV with their email and create their own custom channel list and have their own DVR. But still be using your YoutubeTV account.

That way you can keep your recordings separate and you can hide the shitty channels your wife watches. You can trim your channel list down to 3 and nobody will ever care. Also, once you set your channel list and DVR, it saves it across all your devices.
