12 teams with less cap room than us. Not too bad. Its good to see the donx and faiders in such great cap shape.
I though San Diego had more cap room, Brees must have taken a huge chunk of it. |

Because of unachieved incentives the Chiefs have more then just the $85.5mil. I wounder if this figure is reflective of that difference?

I read on another site that the Chiefs are 2.2 mill under. If I have learned anything the last few years it is that cap seems to mean nothing. I don't worry about it anymore.

so tell me...
how are we gonna sign Surtain to a multiyear contract with a 12+ million dollar signing bonus with only 1.8 million under the cap and with the draft still to go? 6 years = 12+ signing bonus prorates to 2 million per year 7 years = 12+ = 1.72 per year even the league minimum puts it over 2 million per year cap hit

the chiefs can sign whomever they choose ... it's all up to how much money lamar hunt wants to risk. there is a salary cap ... you eventually pay a price, but you can do just about anything you want short term. we can trade for surtain ... sign sharper AND maybe Law later, if we REALLY want to. how much do the chiefs want to win a super bowl?

I'll say it again. The cap means nothing.
Example: Oakland They were nearly 90 million over the cap if I remember correctly, just two seasons ago. They restructured, released a couple of nobody's, and were under with ease. Now they are back to signing Randy Moss (a guy I can't even afford in Madden), LaMont Jordan, Charles Woodson, Jerry Porter, and Rob Konrad. Not to mention last seasons acquisitions. The cap means nothing. It's all about whether or not your owner wants to shell out the dough. All the cap does is put a very high ceiling on teams, nothing more. |
