They have almost outlawed all fun in general. It's fun to look back and see what used to be a felony and how easily you can get one now too. I am glad I grew up a kid when I did. From BB gun wars to fights in school to riding my dirt bike down the street to get to the trails, we never thought twice about it. Now it's all about.......

you never gave a chick a beer to get her loosened up? that was step 1 around my high school we didn't have any "game" so the first thing we tried to do was drink a beer for courage and get a beer in her to improve our chances. very fine line between "loosened up" and legally drunk intentionally getting a girl drunk with the intent of sex is now sexual assault.

I have done all of these things since 1997 (except #8) and never gotten in trouble w/ the law for them. Except a couple tickets for #9. Not to say I wouldn't have if I wasn't such a fast talker/runner.
Wait, I did get in trouble w/ the cops for a fight in 8th grade but nothing ever came of it. |

Okay okay I've tried #11 but was unsuccessful. All I managed to do was waste beer and some wild berries coolers. (1988 was the year of bad drinks)

America has changed a lot since being a kid on many levels not just legal issues. This was something I wrote awhile back about how it used to be.
The America I remember When talking about over legislation and a different America that we now live in I often get grief about what has really changed so I thought I would put down a few of my thoughts. This will tie into sports as well which is why I posted it here. In the America I remember conservatives were for fiscal responsibility and mad as hell at the liberals for over spending not the other way around. In the America I remember being a conservative stood for small government and dying before you gave up your individual rights and freedoms. Now it stands for an enormous government ready to micromanage ever part of our lives. Where individual freedoms and rights has deteriorated to the point where arresting someone and holding them indefinitely without ever even charging them with a crime is not only acceptable but promoted as a patriotic act. In the America I remember being a snitch was one of the lowest forms of life. We were taught to never start a fight but to finish them all. Now we teach our children to run away like little chickens once their hit and snitch on whoever did it with threat of expulsion from school for standing up for yourself. In the America I remember we would get in the back of the pickup for a ride to the ice cream shop on a hot summers day. That family activity is now rewarded with getting pulled over, fined and potentially losing your children for needless endangerment. In the America I remember you used to have to do something really bad to get a felony. In the America I remember there was at least some understanding of the cost associated with legislation. There were not 128 bizillion banned substances with more being added daily. Is this what we really signed up for on our War on Drugs? In the America I remember professional athletes were not considered menaces to society that needed to be addressed in a time of war in the state of the union address. Our government wasn’t involved in the micromanagement of every professional sport and our kids were not subject to drug testing in school just because they are athletes. In the America I remember John McCain was a war hero I looked up to instead of being somebody I wish never made it back. Somebody should change his name to Senator John Appleseed planting the seeds of big government and freedom restricting laws wherever he can. In the America I remember politicians did not waste time worrying about what cheerleaders wear in high school or how they are shaking it. In the America I remember there was at least some semblance of understanding “The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon”. In the America I remember I didn’t feel like I was living in Mexico with 15 illegals living right next door in Tent City. Welcome to California. In the America I remember citizenship had it’s rewards not the other way around. You get free protection and your medical is covered with no taxes? Where do I sign up to be an illegal alien? In the America I remember personal responsibility was encouraged. In the America I remember you left a man’s dog alone, it was a part of his family and as much a part of America as baseball and apple pie. Now we knock on the door take spot away from his loving family to the whaling of young children and slaughter him even though he has done anything wrong. Thanks Denver for being the biggest pussies in the country. In the America I remember, we were the land of the free and the home of the brave not a country sold into a police state by fear mongers. In the America I remember we had a two party system instead of a one party running rampant system because one side doesn’t get it. We don’t want an increase in taxes. We don’t want to legalize discrimination, (affirmative action) and leave our freaking guns alone. In the America I remember nobody ever talked about leaving especially after they had the money. In the America I remember spanking was an acceptable form of discipline. In the America I remember god wasn’t a four letter word.
