Portis says with Pacman situation blown out of proportion

hahah

Wasnt this the guy who Sympathized with Vick too?

"I really think that situation man probably was blown out of proportion, I really do," Portis said of the Pacman fight. "And I think it might have just been somebody watching and seen the altercation and it wasn't nothing that couldn't be handled amongst men, you know? Bodyguard or no bodyguard, if you're around somebody constantly, tempers gonna flare. As men you exchange words. ...

"And I think with Pacman, to come back, to really have this opportunity was a golden opportunity for him, and all of the sudden it's been taken away by the outside world. And now you're under such a tight microscope that you can't fall, or you can't have a disagreement with a grown man. You know, I could see if it was pistol play or if he strangled him or choked him out while he was driving, but you know, if it's man-to-man and we bump chests and push each other, you know, I don't think that's an altercation worth taking football away from him. But, you know, wrong place wrong time is all I can say."

The court determines the terms of his probation, not the Cowboys. And how is a bodyguard suppossed to keep a grown man from drinking except to physically stop them, like maybe a fight?

There is mention of Jones and aclohol consumption on the police report.

Are you familiar with the circumstances that led to Shanny getting rid of Portis? They involve embarassing acts such as wearing a title belt on the sidelines and Portis trying to strong-arm Shanny into giving him a new contract.
Shanny is coach lord and master and Portis found out who stays and who goes real quick.

Wrong.
Goodell determines the terms of his NFL probation. Playing in the NFL is a privelege and PacMan agrees to comply with the terms set forth by the league in exchange for the privelege of membership.

The grown man is supposed to keep himself from drinking. The bodyguards are there to save him from himself when possible and to shield him from the media and public eye when he ****s up.

You just made my point for me.

If Goodell's going to defer to the terms of his probation...
Jones should only be suspended AFTER his PO determines that he's violated his probation.

Police only speculated as to whether or not alcohol was involved.

I just looked at the report and saw nothing at all about alcohol being involved.

Goodell is not bound by nor does he follow the criminal courts when deciding on an action concerning an employee of the NFL.
Nobody needs to prove PacMan was drinking. If the appearance of impropriety is a condition upon which the NFL chooses to act then it is free to do so. In the case of moral terpitude, etc. the NFL is free to act.

The comish sets his own terms and conditions and metes out his own justice. This is how it goes when you accept money from someone in exchange for services rendered: you are expected to live up to the terms to which you agree.

Where do you people come up with this "oh if the police and courts can't prove he broke a law his employer can't take action"?

Jones was suspended 4 games for violating league conduct. A looming suspension will be determined if he violated part of his 3 year probation deal in GA, which is directly linked to Goodell's condition of reinstatement.

I will agree that the media tends to blow things up when its a black athlete. UNfortunately, thats how the media operates these days. Especially when its a huge "Lightening Rod" like Pacman.
Are you suggesting Pacman is being mistreated because of color?

I'm fine with that, but if that's the case that should never have been a condition of his reinstatement. Deferring to the terms of his probation and then suspending him before it's been determined that he did violate his probation is unfair.

Was that a condition of his reinstatement? I'm scouring the web and all I've come up with is that the reinstatement stipulated he had to comply with the terms of his three year court-issued probation.

CoMo,

FWIW, you can call Pacman a scumbag, a ****tard, a misanthrope. You can do what I did and use hyperbole to say that he should be drawn and quartered on the Texas Star, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people will use the distance of the Internet as well as transgressions like this to blurt out "n*****". Why don't you go down to the Field House and say that the next time you see someone who looks "ghetto"?

I'm speculating here, apologies if I didn't make that clear.

I don't know if there were specific terms or if there was a blanket warning to the tune of "should it become public that you committed any actions to the detriment of the image of the NFL your reinstatement will be reconsidered"

Goodell is fully empowered and feeling it. He may be taking the SCOTUS definition of pornography on what is a suspendable offense.
