Cedar Point in Ohio
http://www.cedarpoint.com/
Is this theme park worth the road trip? Thinking of taking my oldest on a amusement park tour this summer with Cedar Point being the furthest and last stop before heading back. Figure on Worlds of fun and Six Flags as bookends. Might look into Kings Island as well. Last edited by 007; 12-23-2008 at 06:14 AM.. |

I'm not much in to thrill rides, honestly. To me there is no better amusement park than Disney World in Orlando, FL.

King's Island is adding a 230' coaster next year that will kick major ass.
If you're driving you can hit Holiday World (one of the best family parks around and has by far the best wood coaster I've ever ridden). http://www.holidayworld.com/ Six Flags St. Louis has actually improved drastically over the last two years. It used to be a dumpster. And they added a decent wood coaster last year. Worlds of Fun is building a nice looking wood coaster back in the woods for next year. Cedar Point is the place to go when looking for coasters though. If that's the only place you can squeeze in then make it the priority. |

Can Cedar Point be covered in one day or is it better to plan for two on that one?

Top Thrill Dragster and Magnum XL 200 were outstanding. Millennium Force was closed unfortunately. Hopefully we can ride it tomorrow.

I don't know where you are, but I've been to no better amusement parks than Busch Gardens. Both are faaaaantastic aesthetically and the rides are great too. Apollo's Sun Chariot and Alpengheist (sp?) in Williamsburg, and Sheikra in Tampa !!

Cedar Point is awesome. The wife and I took the drive out there two summers in a row in '02 and '03 (or '03 and '04... I dunno, something like that). "Millennium Force" is the best coaster I've been on, and you MUST sit in front. I didn't ride "Top Thrill Dragster" (eye surgery issues) but the wife did and loved it. They have a stand-up coaster, a suspended coaster, an inverted coaster, a fast wooden killer coaster, a small old wooden coaster... just about anything you could ask for. (You can skip "Magmum XL-200", though, IMO; it's old and beat-up and gives you a rough ride.) And, if you can, splurge and stay on property; we stayed at the Hotel Breakers, and it was well worth it. I don't think you need a full week there, though; three nights, maybe four nights, is plenty.

TTD was the first ride I hit when there and I wasn't able to ride anything else for 4 hours.Turned my stomach every which way and left me feeling like crap.

Having a blast. Top thrill dragster was down today because of the rain but thankfully Millennium force opened up for the first time in the last 4 days. Made Mamba look like a fishing worm. 315 feet straight down. DAMN!!!
