16 hours to sign Runyan

OK, if we sign Runyan in the next 24 hours his salary for 2009 is guaranteed. If we haven't signed him by then, I fully expect him to sign with the Eagles.

After working out for three teams, he expected some swelling in his knee but has reported no change and feels with 1 week of practice(to get his timing down) he would be ready to start.

So, would you sign him NOW to avoid another team getting him ... BUT take the risk that he gets a paycheck and never contibutes...

i mean, of course, money may be his only concern, but i can't see why he would want to play for us under any circumstance if philly is an option....we'll see
Because Philly signed his replacement and would only need him because the other is out with a back injury. I doubt Philly wants to keep him around after that... HERE we would need him (and pay him) for at least 2 years.

Money isn't the issue. The effects he'd have on the cap would be negligible anyway...

If healthy, he is worth signing just as an insurance policy for the quarterback. It's reckless not to give Cassel any protection.

All he has to do is channel his "inner-Lance." Live strong, yo. Seriously, the Chiefs need to do something to bolster their line. If this doesn't happen, then it's going to be slim pickens unless they deal a draft pick to someone.

Sign him now for 2 yrs. We have plenty of cap space...give him 2-3 mill a year. He's worth all of that and more if he's healthy. Then we draft at least 2 high pick OL next year! We ain't going to be worth a crap if our QB is dead!

I say sign him now, but I doubt he'll leave Philly a second time without a contract.

Sign him yesterday. The O line has yet to be addressed adequately enough to keep Cassel upright and able to throw. The Miami castaways are not going to get the job done should they have to start for an extended period of time. Sign him to a two year deal already and have him starting next week.

This.

Although, if they were willing to sign him before Monday, they would have already done it, IMO.

He'll go to the Eagles for a chance at a ring, if he's smart.

If the money is close then Runyan will probably choose to sign with a team that has a better chance to win. By signing him early it might give us the edge to get him on the team. If they consider him healthy then sign him now.
