This argument is dumb if this is all he's got. Safety is just as much a position of need as the o-line. Plus it's an important position in the 34. Berry would fill a need AND be at least one of the the two best players available at the 3 pick.

Uh his argument is basically, Scott Pioli is not going to admit he ****ed up on Cassel so he'll load that side to try to prove it wasn't a mistake.

First of all, I'm responding to how he begins his rationalization. His first thoguht is flawed. Second, the continuation of his thought makes no sense. How does a rookie [maybe] left tackle accomplish this? If Pioli is going to load the line to cover his investment, he'll overpay in free agency...if that's even possible this year.

The flawed logic, as you see it, though, is an attempt to follow the thought process of Pioli.

The dudes at Walters basically think Pioli is dumb as ****.

no way we go Left Tackle IMO, but every mock i see has us with one, Mcshay mock has us with some LT from Rutgers. We need playmakers on both sides of the ball, and Berry is almost the only way to go IMO

For my money, there are 4 players (5 if Locker changes his mind) I would be happy with at #3... which is where I think we will wind up. Don't see a win happening Sunday, but I suppose we could. Anyway, if we wind up with one of these 4... Suh or Berry on the defensive side, Clausen or Spiller on the offensive side I'm happy. You all know my favorite at this time, but anyone of the others would be a heck of a good pick.

If we don't get Berry I am going to be PO'd. I'd rather have JC or Suh over Okung though.

Walter's not saying that's who he'd pick, it's who he thinks Pioli will pick.

With that said, I don't think we draft OL, I don't think this regime values OL. If they did, we'd have a whole new interior line from the draft this year.

It's probably going to be another two down player like Cody, and I'll have that crazed look of Cantrell's dad in the video for "Rooster" after his buddy stepped on a mine.

I think I could be happy with this trio... I don't know a lot about Canfield, from what I've read and heard though, he looks like a nice player to target.

McClain and Jones could be two very nice additions... I would be very happy with the front 7 getting serious focus.

1 - Ronlando McClain, ILB 'Bama (dude is 6'4 and 258 lbs)
2 - Arthur Jones, DE/DT Syracuse (he's about 6'3 and 295 lbs)
3 - Sean Canfield, QB Oregon State (6'4 and 214 lbs)

Does it just make too much sense to draft

1) Eric Berry
2a) Brandon Spikes
2b) Danario Alexander

Berry and Spikes would start, Alexander would be #3 behind Chambers and Bowe, and all three poisitons need serious upgrading (even thought you could throw a dart a hit a position of need with this team).
