The big knock against him, though, other than the short career, is the fact that Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson and some other guys did almost as well after him. I would contend that he's not as HoF-worthy as another fellow in a similar situation, William Andrews of the Falcons. William Andrews was a devastating blocker and could catch out of the backfield and produced roughly the same number of yards from scrimmage. He also had one more productive year, though it was cut in half by the 1982 strike, so his numbers don't look notably better for that reason. Andrews' career was destroyed by a knee injury just like Davis', though Andrews' injury wasn't caused by a chop block by his own cheating lineman. Seriously, Andrews was the complete package.
