Haven't seen Ghost Writer. It looks like it hasn't had a wide release at all, and unfortunately (because it seems like it could be pretty good), I don't think it'll come to NE Iowa.

after the crappy KU game, I sat around literally all night watching movies.
The Invention of Lying - Pretty funny, the first half was much better than the 2nd. But, still worth a watch. Let the right one in - FANTASTIC, watch it! Subtitles, it's a foreign film. But this was really well done. Not your typical vampire lore, that's for sure. A Boy and his Dog - oldie, haven't seen it. It was weird, not sure I might have to watch it again. I'm pretty sure that the video game series Fallout has to be influenced by this. The Taking of Pelham 123 - meh, somewhat entertaining at least. |

I tried to watch it the other night, and I fell asleep pretty quickly. I'm going to have to give it another go. I think I may not be Jewish enough to get it, though... kind of like a Philip Roth novel.

The Femke Janssen thread got me thinking about another movie she is in. It's a small, relatively unheard of film (to me) and it's pretty decent. It's called Love and Sex. It's a pretty decent movie that you could probably sub in for a chick flick.
I watched it because Femke Janssen is hawt. But the acting is pretty decent and is really a good look at relationship psychology. It's not terribly entertaining, but it is worth a watch. Especially if the woman is bugging you for a chick flick. |

I'm watching The Corporation, a 2003 documentary on (what else?) corporations that happens to be very even-keel and free of partisan hackery.

I just finished Wild Side (1995, Anne Heche, Christopher Walken)..... Outside of the gratuitous nudity and sex, it's not very good. Anne's got bigger boobies than I would have thought.

Just saw Shutter Island and The Wolfman in the theaters and watched Zombieland and (500) Days of Summer on DVD.
Shutter Island was pretty good, but not great (perhaps that's because my expectations of a Scorcese/Leo collaboration are pretty high). Like Jenson, I guessed the movie's ending early on. Still, it was an enjoyable experience, so I'd recommend watching it. The Wolfman was a waste of time. There wasn't a single element of the movie that was scary. It was just boring and bad and I had no reason to be invested in any of the characters or their relationships. Zombieland was amazing. One of my favorite movies of the year. Highly recommended. Especially loved the cameo by a certain famous comedian. (500) Days of Summer was good, but it wasn't a revelation. I could understand why Joseph Gordon Levitt was so in love with Summer. He should have known better. But I still liked the movie overall and the way it told the story.

Finally watched "Up". It was pretty good.. but not nearly as good as it was hyped up to be, IMO.
