GIF'D UP! 2010

It was one year ago that Bernard Pollard missed five tackles in one preseason game. Angered by his ineptness, I gif'd his ass up.

The gifs didn't lie. Pollard was exposed as a fraud, cut and banished from Kansas City. Emboldened by this great success, I created a massive a thread in which we exposed every fraud on the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs.

No one escaped the wrath of GIF'D UP. Every week, the ****ing axe came down with thunder. It was brutal, it was bloody, and it used up a ****ton of bandwidth.

GIF'D UP is back for 2010 and season two. We're going to expose every fraud on the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs. Let's get this show on the road. There are 20 weeks to the Super Bowl, Corey Mays, Jon McGraw, Ryan O'Failaghan and Rudy Niswanger are still Chiefs, and we need to send Mike Vrabel into early retirement.

LOCK AND LOAD!

In about an hour, we officially kick it off with the Atlanta review.

Maybe. Im not going to speak on behalf of him.

However, I'm not sold that that was a bad play by Cassel just because GoChiefs says so. The only player that might have been open was Chambers, and we don't know where the safety was on that play. Most QB's won't make that throw even if a guy like Rodgers or Manning could. Cassel will never make that throw.

So, tucking the ball and trying to run through an open lane may not have been a bad idea. W/o knowing where that S was, we don't know.

There are plenty of plays to bash on Cassel for, but I dont think that was one of them.

About 30 QBs get drafted every year and on average ALL of them miss. Maybe 2-3 every decade become elite. Thats 2-3 out of 300-400 that are drafted / brought to camp. Its really long odds folks and why GMs are reluctant to give up too quickly only to have to start the process over again.
Tremendous amount of hyperbole here and thus an illustration of why so many are loathe to spend a high-round pick on a QB.

There were three high-quality QBs taken in the first round of the '04 draft alone, for example.

You are right, however, in implicitly claiming that late-round fliers on QBs are almost always frivolous. And I think we've tried that approach enough to know the results.

Same can be said for D-Linemen, yet we have no problem taking those.

I know Cassel sucks, but I'm curious about that play Arrowhead Magic is talking about. I wouldn't mind seeing the vid/gif of it.

You're terrible at this. Sometimes receivers are covered and a QB has to scramble. It's part of the game. Get over it.

That GIF is in the thread. It's basically taken over the thread.

The GIF and the screen shots show that his receivers were covered. However, It looked as if Chambers could've been open on the post, but the safety playing centerfield was no longer seen.

It's possible that the safety was also there taking away Chambers, but we dont know. But, it was just an opportunity to pile on Cassel so GoChiefs took it and ran.

Truth is, we cant say if Chambers was covered down field or not. So we don't KNOW if Cassel was right to scramble or if it were a boneheaded play.

No the gif just shows cassel, it doesn't show where the safety is. Arrowheadmagic has a good point. I think Chambers was open, but then again, I don't know where the safety is. I don't he'd be playing too deep on 3rd and 3.

Here is our safety in question at the top. Not only that, but it's possible that the LB may have been able to break on that ball to Chambers as well.

Hard to tell w/o seeing it live.

W/o seeing the Coaches cam it's hard to determine whether or not Chambers actually was coming open or not. For all we know, he could be running right into the safety.

So it's a bit early to bash on Cassel for a play that we can't fully see.

Yeah, but the crop of trees in the orchard is looking mighty good right now. Good odds on a winner. Get 'er done.

There is no reason for a quarterback to scramble when the protection is there.

Cassel shit his pants because he couldn't find an open receiver.

Safeties playing single high coverage are rarely positioned five yards from the line of scrimmage.

In fact the safety in question was 15 yards from the line of scrimmage and RETREATING as the ball was snapped.
