It's not that bad. He got cold at the worst possible time, to be sure, but don't you think that all this Haley/Weis bullshit MAY HAVE distracted him a touch? That, and having nobody opposite of Bowe to throw to....

If we do that, they will have to have a bonfire roaoring at all the games, just so he would have a target to throw to.....

Oh bullshit. When Cassel was playing well against the cream of the crap, people couldn't WAIT to bring up Sanchez's lackluster regular season play as a means of validating their belief in He Who Shit's Himself.
It's reeruned. Sanchez seems to be able to make something happen when it needs to happen more than Cassel does, regardless that both teams carry the QB more often than not.
Can you honestly deny that Sanchez stepped-up when it REALLY neded to happen? Can you deny that Cassel forces shit when he's been faced with a situation where something absolutely NEEDED to happen with his personal play? And that the result was a resounding ShitMyPants(!)?

Come...

the ****...

ON, man!

Ridiculous.
Here's what I want to see before you break out the ****ing crown. I want to see Sanchez be forced to score points when his defense falters. His defense has played incredibly well in all of his playoff wins. The one they didn't, the team lost.

What has he done when something absolutely needed to happen? He had one drive to put his team in position to win. However, before you jimp, the ball was on the 50, they ran twice, and he threw a jump ball to a 6'5 receiver on a 5'9 corner that pretty much any QB could make in the NFL. He was epically bad most of that game, but his defense kept him in it.

Sanchez is a good quarterback that benefits from an all-world OL and a stud defense. He has a coach that takes ALL heat off him with his ridiculous rants. It's impressive he keeps winning no doubt, and I clearly think he's better than Cassel, but there's no chance I think he replicates his success here based on the lack off offensive line, and the defense not being at the Jets level.

Grbac is firmly entrenched in Steve Bono's company right now.

He can elevate himself to Grbac level by blowing a playoff game in the 4th quarter instead of the 3rd quarter.

Of course not, and I don't think anyone does. But the question has always been, would he be a better long-term option than Cassel?

I started the Sanchez crow eating thread to mock all the demands for Cassel crow during the regular season, but I honestly believe that all serious talk about Sanchez should be put to rest.

Cassel is here for now, and that's fine. Let's shift the conversation to other options with more upside that we could bring in to play behind Cassel.

I haven't seen anything that would so far lead me to believe that he would be. He'll presumably be in the league longer, but that to me means that he might have had a longer mediocre career here. There is, however, a greater chance he's able to elevate his game. So in that sense he'd be a better option.

It might actually work out better for KC in the long run, however, if they're able to do what you and I surmise, which is Cassel bridging the gap between the building years and the QBotF, whoever he might be.

But I'm also not completely against the idea of bringing in another vet, as long as it's somebody along the lines of Brees or Cutler. Those trades seemed to work out pretty well (although I completely expect Cutler to cost the Bears the NFC Championship tomorrow).

The trick is finding a team with either the depth at the position to make the trade (Eggo...) or stupid enough to make it (Dungver...).

Which leaves you with choices between a guy like Cassel or a guy like Sanchez.

There's no question his learning curve in KC would be incredibly steep. But by the time we had the rest of the pieces in place, we would be MUCH better off at the QB position. At this point, I'm willing to endure a couple of sub-.500 seasons if it means developing a top-tier prospect out of round one.

How is the fact that Grbac had no running game an argument against him?

If Cassel had no running game he'd shit the bed constantly.

Besides, Grbac was still throwing the ball down the field, and doing so accurately.

As I said in another thread, go down to the morgue, find a body, sign it to a contract, and start it ahead of Cassel.
Seriously, if you had started a dead body in the playoff game, you only would have lost 70 yards in passing offense. Think about that.

How would we be much better off? Everything is in place with the Jets. One of the best Olines in the league, a great running game, Holmes, Edwards, Keller, Cotchery. He's missing nothing, and he's still average at best. All the pieces are in place there and he's still a liability.

Like Gabbert? The guy that apparently doesn't shit himself in big games? Right?

And while Sanchez is far being being "crowned the King of All NFL QB's", there's NO doubt that in ANY "Kingdom" of QB's where he and Cassel reside exclusively, Sanchez sits firmly upon the King's Throne whilst Cassel juggles oranges for His Majesty's entertainment.
