Hell, we barely do anything anymore. A one week vacation once per year and a 4 day weekend once per year. We avoid eating out unless it is an anniversary or birthday and even then we look for the most affordable deal on the menu. Our grocery bill it getting insane even backing down to generic store products.

I went to the seafood market here, and I was buying 6.99 per pound shrimp, the woman in front of me was using an EBT card and was buying Lobster tails... I swear, I am waiting on a plan to come down the pipe soon to help people pay for their gas.... |

The price of fuel has a direct impact on my income given we build boats which are a luxury item. The last recession hit us hard and I made less annual income that I had since 1998. The corporation I work for "consolidated footprints" and shut down 15 plants as a direct result. It's amazing that the feds just sit on their asses and watch the economy go to shit and act as if nothings wrong.

I have been a nice guy for the last year, I chose to work about 5 hours a night making enough money to pay the utilities and stuff and to eat out, gas etc. without having to dip into my savings, this has helped those below me on seniority and I see them buying all sorts of stuff when they claimed they were broke, and I felt sorry for them Well no more mr nice guy, I am going back to full throttle mode and gonna get in a few peoples pocketbook.

I had a $160 tank of gas a few years ago. Here we go again.
I spend around 800-$1200 a month for gas. It sure would be nice to have another 4-600 bucks to inject into the economy........ |

good grief, can any NY or FLorida CP'ers report seeing gas around $5 or $6 as this story suggests?
The statewide average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Alaska, California and Hawaii has topped the $4 mark. Gas prices in Connecticut, New York and Washington, DC are almost there too. Some stations in the New York City area are charging nearly $5 a gallon for premium gas. Some Florida drivers are reportedly shelling out almost $6 a gallon. But at under $3.25 a gallon, gas prices in Colorado, Wyoming and other mid-continent states helping to reign in the national average. http://www.cnbc.com/id/46638757 Plus, gasoline consumption continues to fall at a dramatic pace. Last week, the four-week average for U.S. retail gasoline demand posted a year-over-year decline for the 49th straight week, according to a report from MasterCard SpendingPulse, falling nearly 6 percent compared to the same period in 2011.
