This season could be about Peyton.....Hillis that is

JC will be back along with T-Mo and Berry. Houston and Baldwin have a year under their belts and Winston will be wearing Chiefs red on Sunday's.

The difference this year is we have a power back that can actually produce. 6'2", 250 and half psyco.

3rd and short suddenly has become the best friend for the Chiefs where in the past few years it was their worst enemy.

If he can revert to 2010 form the Chiefs will pack one of the best backfields in the league and now they have lineman that can actually block.

Whether you start JC or not (and we should), a heavy dose of the other Peyton could be what this team has lacked. A power back that can truly wear down the interior of a defense. A bck who can power for the short yardage even when the blocking is stuffed.

This gives the Chiefs a better opportunity to win doing what they are best at doing...dink-dunk the ball. Longer posession times will spell longer rest times for the H-J-H pass rush.

And longer posession times mean longer stints of opposing defenses chasing one of the best RB's in the league all over the field then tackling a freight train late in the games.

Hillis could end up being one of the best FA signings this team has made offensively next to Winston.

that was due to a couple factors that no longer exist, though.

Nobody but Dexter had the physical ability to run anything but power runs.

Jones
Battle
McClain

Opposing defenses knew there no threat of stretch runs, toss plays or other runs that require speed.

When that's the case, it doesn't take much post snap info to blow the play up. Especially when there is loads and loads of tape telling the same story week in and week out.

What compounded the problem was the size (or lack thereof) of Weigmann and Lilja mixed with the limited repertoire of our running attack.

Hillis and Charles can both utilize far more running plays to force the defense to play them "honest".

Couple that with going from 280 pound Weigmann to 300 pound Hudson and possibly going from 285 pound Lilja to a larger guard and all of a sudden a glaring weakness turns into strength that defenses are forced to try and prepare for and limit. I think more times than not, we will het the edge in the run game.

Or a 6"5 330 pound Konz, with Hudson and Asamoah on his sides?

One of the more bizarre things I've seen in football forums is the whole "White people only like Hillis because he's white" crap. If you actually watched the guy when he was effective, he was tough as hell to take down. It's fun to to watch someone run the ball like that.

Our interior run blocking was shit last year, Asamoah included.

Having a RB that can break a tackle is nice, but the middle of the line has to do a better job making holes.

That would be a good job for Dexter. Follow behind the running back and snag up the fumbles and run them in.

This is pretty much mute. Teams will stack the box and force the arm of cassel to beat them. Cassel gets no respect from opponents defensives . At least with Orton teams had to respect the pass. He could actually pass over twenty yards. Sad but true.

Yeah? Didn't they do the same in 2010? How did that turn out for defenses ?
