Shooting at TDKR Midnight Premiere in Aurora, CO. Multiple dead.
At least 10 moviegoers were killed and 39 injured at a cinema in the Colorado city of Aurora in the Denver suburbs. They were attending a midnight showing of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
The theater was packed with a lot of people, many of them young fans, at the time the shooting started, 9news reports. The violence erupted some 15 minutes after the movie started, witnesses said. Some say that when they first heard the shooting, they thought it was some new type of special effect. Local media reports that two gunmen were involved in the rampage. An explosive device was set off during the shooting, injuring several people. Witnesses said the gunmen were probably wearing body armor and gas masks and used some kind of a tear gas bomb in the attack. Some reports say police have apprehended one of the assailants while the second one is still at large. Police have cleared people from the scene over fears that another explosive device might be on the premises. Aurora medical services were alerted to attend to the large number of injured http://www.rt.com/news/shooting-dark...er-aurora-654/ WOW |

Pretty sad day out here.
One of the victim's was a desk anchor type for Altitude - the local sports station that carries Avalanche and Nuggets games. Always seemed like a sweet girl. |

How could it have gotten any worse? I just can't wrap my head around the fact that some people think that a CCL holder is some crazy nut that just throws lead everywhere. It's a ****ing stupid and ignorant thought. I am going to stop arguing out of respect for dirtyrute and his brother. Sorry, man. |

I totally agree that someone having a gun can help in a robbery or break-in, but all the people acting like someone would've been a hero in that theater are crazy. This guy came in prepared with weapons and gas in a dark theater. Unless you have some kind of law enforcement or military training you were going to be caught off guard, and even then he might have gotten you. You're trying to pick off one guy in the dark with tear gas in your eyes, he's firing away trying to kill everyone. Even if he knew people had guns, he obviously didn't care... that's why he had the jacket and used tear gas, to neutralize the threat.

It's no more preposterous than the assumption that every CCL holder is Dirty Harry with nerves of steel, a cool head, and steady hand. Many (probably the vast majority) would make good decisions in such a situation. Some would not. Thus the possibility for the situation to get worse. Like others, I support CCL, but I'm not of the notion that it's a panacea for crime.

A lot of people on Twitter are linking to her blog. Apparently her last blog post was about having a near-miss with the Toronto mall shooting last month. Freaky (and obviously sad) if true.

I don't have sound; but in that clip, are the people walking out from the theater in question?

Yes. A guy comes out who has either been shot or had someone bleeding all over him as well. It looks like a cop or security guard is escorting him... but that doesn't make sense as this appears to be before the cops even arrived (maybe it was a security guard in the movie theater).
