Massive deal is in the works, but you would assume MLB is going to take a hard look because of long-term ramifications for MIA market. |

Asked official with one of clubs if he has any concern that commissioner might kill the deal. His response: "None at all." |

The Marlins got $409M in public funding (on false pretense) that will cost the city $2.4 BILLION to pay off. #jail #fraud |

Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun reports that Jeff Mathis will be part of the megadeal with the Marlins.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Juan C. Rodriguez says the Marlins will also get pitching prospect Anthony DeSclafani. It appears that they are the final two players the Fish will receive in addition to Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Jake Marisnick and Justin Nicolino. Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buerhle, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck are headed to Toronto along with a reported $4 million in a deal that could be finalized later Tuesday. |

David Glass' response to the following:
David Glass: YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Secretary, get Dayton on the phone NOW! Dayton Moore: You called, sir? David Glass: Did you just see the news of the latest trade? Dayton Moore: I believe so. It's hard to believe any franchise could give up so much, isn't it? David Glass: You bet it is, but that's the beauty of it! Could you imagine if we could unload Butler, Gordon, and all the other high-priced guys we got? We'd be rolling in dough! Dayton Moore: But sir, that would make our team even worse than it is now, plus we're already doing that, just not as extravagantly as the Marlins. David Glass: EXACTLY! I won't accept having another franchise cheaper than ours. Work a trade to get rid of the three highest paid guys we got for more minor league prospects. DO IT NOW! ------------------- Any Royals fan knows this will come across his mind. |
