Need Help with non-vesa (mounting brackets) monitor ideas..
Ok, so it's been a few years since I've bought a LCD monitor. Grabbed a deal on an Acer from Newegg but the back is not vesa compatible.
For those that don't know, vesa was a standard set for 4 screws on the back of a monitor to attach to a swing arm/mounting bracket. From further checking I see many manufacturer's are not adding this feature anymore. Why? Anyways... searching through tons of search links I discovered this From this site http://esiergo.com/products/monitors...ns/ENCLOZE.asp Yet it's not available yet. So I'm stuck and need some ideas. I read one forum where an individual epoxied a block of 2x4 to the back and then drilled holes for his attaching bracket. I can't believe I'm going to have to invent something so I can use this on my swing arm. Anyone else have this problem and come up with a solution? Thanks in advance. |

Is there no mounting method on the back? The only option is the stand?

How does the stand attach? Could you use an L bracket from that point?

http://www.misco.co.uk/Product/Q5560...VI-LED-Monitor Some of the searches recommended a L bracket to fix my non-vesa issue for certain manufacturers but I didn't see anything that looked remotely like the base attachment for this acer. |

You might have to have it fabricated, but assuming the base detaches, you would attach the L at that point running up the back to where you mount your Veda.

Just use some 1.5" wood screws. What's the worst that could happen? There's nothing important on the inside.

easiest solution is to buy a VESA conversion plate (easy to find online) then glue the crap out of that to the monitor. Use the strongest epoxy you can find.
If you are worried about it coming unglued... you could also attach a piece of metal bent to an L-shape as a safeguard in case it does. Here is a pretty MSPAINT pic of what I mean... OR you could do some woodworking and make one of these http://gadgetsin.com/vesa-compliant-...wall-mount.htm |
