Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

IMO, the advice isn't you are going 1 or 2, but lets stop the bleeding and keep you in the top 20.
Yeah ESPN sure pimped Newton.

That's only plausible if one thinks playing at the Senior Bowl would make him fall.

That's not going to happen.

They love pimping guys whose agents are buddies with Kiper and McShay.

ESPN was pimping Bowers and Fairley to Carolina early in that draft cycle. It was ONLY after Newton blew up during workouts and they started hearing from every scout they talked to about how he was the clear best guy that Newton was GRUDGINGLY moved into the correct slotting.

People can say there "isn't a QB worth the pick" all they want, but it's lazy and dishonest (not to mention inaccurate). There isn't a slam dunk guy like Andrew Luck. No one has worked out or interviewed yet (the things that turned RG3 into a slam dunk).

There isn't a lock in this draft, at QB or any other position. If you're taking a risk on someone at 1 who isn't a lock, it makes sense (from an opportunity cost standpoint) to AT LEAST take the risk on someone at the highest impact position.

Boards and mocks that have been updated recently show a rising Geno Smith. Just wait until he works out (where his accuracy, zip and ball placement will shine) and starts interviewing for teams (where his dedication and understanding of the game/film study will wow people). The scouts will start spreading the word to "sources" and all of a sudden, there WILL be a QB worthy of the No. 1 pick...

Same shit different year.

Some of these guys act like they've never paid attention to the draft before.

They're only doing this shit now because we have the #1 overall pick. We all of a sudden have a chance to grab whomever they're talking about.....so they've all gone reeruned.

What's really funny (at least to me) is that I was the biggest detractor - probably by far - of Matthew Stafford when he was in that draft. Which was probably the last time I was this involved in a discussion about a QB.

It's not like I'm a QB-or-nothing-else guy. Geno's just that good, IMO.

There’s plenty of time and plenty of evaluations to be made at the top of a draft with much less certainty than we’ve seen in the last few years. Smith’s obviously banking on individual workouts and the combine being enough to convince some team to spend a pick on him come April.
I bet this means that he'll come out and fully participate at the combine.

http://www.wvillustrated.com/story/2...or-bowl-invite

Quote:
West Virginia University quarterback Geno Smith declined an invitation to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, this according to one of his recent tweets.

Smith posted to twitter, "Thanks to the Senior Bowl for the invite, but for the record I will not be participating. Once again thanks to the Senior Bowl committee."

The Senior Bowl currently lists four quarterbacks on its roster, NC State's Mike Glennon, Oklahoma's Landry Jones, Florida State's EJ Manuel and Arkansas' Tyler Wilson.

There are no West Virginia players on the roster for the game, which is set to be played on January 26.

Each team in the Senior Bowl is coached by a different NFL staff. This year's game will feature the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders.

Declining to participate indicates Smith believes he has nothing left to prove and does not want to risk injury in the game. Many of the so-called experts list Smith as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.

Geno Smith set numerous records at WVU and finished his college career with 11,662 pass yards, 98 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 44 games.

This. Many posters who had normally disagreed on players in previous drafts seem to be united in their love of Geno
