I've got 3 LEDs:
40" and 46" Samsung 120hz 55" LG 120hz All are mid level (Samsung are 6000 series and LG 5600) I see nothing objectionable on any of them (although the LG does the "flashlighting" during credits with white text and black background, not noticeable otherwise). The LG seems to have a better selection apps-wise, with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon prime all built in. Samsung must be in a pissing match with Amazon, because no amazon prime on Samsung. I can't imagine buying Plasma, period. But that's just me. Of coarse, my suggestion is to go somewhere that has a good quality demo setup and see what looks best to YOU. Here in ATL, Frys and HH Gregg seem to have good demo setups, Best buy is ok too at the bigger stores here. HH Gregg matched Amazon's price on the LG I bought, and threw in 5 pairs of 3D glasses (which I've never used). DT |

The prices are coming down so much it makes me want to go bigger than 55. My parents have a Sony LCD they bought on the exact same day at the exact same place (NFM) that we bought the P55". It's crap. They were afraid to buy plasma and went with the 'safe bet' instead. Now every time they come over to watch a game they are kicking themselves.

Don't buy an LED-LCD TV unless it has local dimming and full array backlighting. Otherwise, your PQ will be inconsistent.
Honestly, your TV ****ed you by dying the week after the SB. There are often great TV deals the week of the SB. You can use slickdeals, but it's incredibly random. I'd recommend searching local clearance at BestBuys online; it's a new feature and pretty nice, as it allows you to pluck some underpriced diamonds out there. If you go plasma, Panasonic is the best, but there have been durability issues with some sets over the years, especially WRT black level consistency.

I have two plasmas...a 50" Samsung and a 42" Panasonic. I love both of them. My parents bought a more expensive Sony LCD and there is a noticeable difference while watching sports. The plasmas will use more power and produce more heat, but the tradeoff is well worth it IMO.

The power thing is pretty much negligible, you're talking a few dollars over the course of a year.

I bought a Panasonic Viera 42" IPS LED-LCD for Christmas and I'm quite happy with it.

I'm not. It is amazing tv just too large sized body and not large enough screen.

Not sure if you have a Fry's out there, but I saw a 60" plasma today for $700. Not sure if it's any good.

bought a 51" Samsung Plasma today, will be belivered Tuesday, currently own 2 Samsung LCD's. Went to buy an LED but after comparing side by side and doing a little research went with the plasma, picture quality was just plain better on the plasma.
