If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.
A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.
So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way. His thoughts. Nothing more.
Just like the other one says he doesn't think Alex Smith will get injured here, his actual words. Lol No reason why. He just doesn't THINK he will get injured so using his injury history is an invalid argument. And it was really funny when heforgot which account he was posting from. Albert is our "elder statesman" on the offensive line and he's just entering his fifth season. The entire team is basically entering it's prime with six Pro Bowl players. I fully embrace the concept of bringing in the best available QB to make a concerted effort to win now. They should make an effort to win now. They have the talent to win now, the coaching staff to win now and a QB who, if he replicates his last two seasons in the league, should be the final piece to accomplish this goal. I see no reason why he won't be able to match his 2011 and 2012 production/numbers with the Chiefs and enable them to, at the very least, challenge for a Wild Card playoff spot this next season. (Personally, I think that the Broncos are being completely overrated and that the Chiefs have a legit shot at winning the AFC West outright.) |

Save for the 2011 12 stuff. He's going to have to be better, as he's going to be more featured in Reids offensive system than he was with Harbaugh. I actually think Reid's system is tougher on a QB, but if he's the right guy, it will lead to better numbers and more wins. |

People rave about the 49ers OL and "full roster", but our pass protection gets highly overrated. Our receivers have not been A+, and our D isn't as beyond reproach as outsiders want to think. If the Chiefs are even reasonably strong around Alex, he will continue to be efficient, and the Chiefs will put together a respectable season. Then the continuity in season 2 should make the Chiefs a deep playoff contender. |

This team has alot of key players in their prime. It's ready to win now and the only thing that would hold it back is the QB position.

Since we are going all in I wouldn't mind seeing Seymour picked up to give us some snaps and possible pass rush we've been lacking from d-line. |

I'd snag him for a one year deal.

The hiring of Chilly, using Ault as a consultant speaks to this as well as the drafting of Fisher and Davis, the signing of Schwartz, the signing of DeVito, the loading up on fullbacks, etc., speaks of a concept of precision ball control type offense using a mobile and accurate QB, big possession type receivers, fast running backs and blocking tight ends and fullbacks. Reid's own experience in a West Coast offense combined with a Pistol/Read Option option (pardon the redundancy) is most likely what we'll see this next season. Look for the Utah Pass a lot this next season as well as various pull based screens and QB options. It should be a much more exciting offense to watch than Dabolls horrific travesty that was forced upon us last season. And they seem to have the personnel in place to make it work. |

And that wasn't with his hand picked 1st round QB. So yeah, now that he gets his hand picked 1st round QB he is going to throw it less than he did with a late round rookie?
