I just read this morning that Darth Maul was brought back to life, with a robotic lower half, in Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon series.
At the end of The Phantom Menace, I just knew that he wasn't dead and expected him to come back at that time. I'm sure glad that Lucas didn't do that in the movies, because it would have been a cheap move, although it might have been cool to see Maul and Vader fight to become the true apprentice to Sidious. Either way, if Maul is alive in the Clone War series, it opens the door for him to be alive in the next animated series or even the live action series, when it finally happens. |

Liam Neeson's character was exactly how I had long imagined Jedi Knights of the Republic to look, behave and act. He was note perfect, IMO. Darth Maul was a very cool and menacing Sith and I enjoyed watching Palpatine/Sidious' machinations. The look of the movie is very warm (it was shot on film, then transferred) and the score, IMO, is amongst the best ever by John Williams. How he seamless transitions the end title into Darth Vader's Theme is absolutely brilliant. The lowlights were of course Samuel L. Jackson and too much Jar Jar Binks. Other than that, I don't have much negative to say. |

It's certainly better than Attack of the Clones.
The kid and Jar Jar ruin the movie though.

Having no protagonist didn't help either.
