Donovan McNabb Says Stafford Hasn't Earned His Contract
Looks like McNabb is butthurt over Matt Stafford's contract.
Shut up McNabb you haven't earned your microphone. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-his-contract/ "For the second time this offseason, former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb has weighed in on a current NFL quarterback’s contract. And for the second time, McNabb has expressed his disapproval. In March, McNabb said Tony Romo isn’t worth the money the Cowboys have agreed to pay him. Now McNabb has weighed in on Matthew Stafford’s new contract with the Lions, and once again McNabb believes the team is overpaying." |

Personally, I believe the jury is still out on him. He's hasn't shown that he's a Franchise QB anymore than Josh Freeman has shown he's a Franchise QB. If Freeman were in Detroit with Megatron, he'd have similar numbers, yet Tampa hasn't extended Freeman. Detroit may come out smelling like a rose with this deal but when in history has that ever happened for the Lions? |

How many has Matt Stafford had? Would you be comfortable with the Chiefs giving Alex Smith half the contract that Stafford just received based on the the past four years?

Hell no.
If he won a playoff game with the Lions in 2013, I'd be far more interested in extending him. But to date, other than playing catch with Megatron, he hasn't shown much other than a propensity for injury and interceptions at inopportune moments. Matthew Stafford hasn't begun to show he's in the same league as a Matt Ryan. He's more akin to Josh Freeman than elite QB's. |

I'm going agree with Dane McCloud on this one. I put Stafford in the injury prone class and has much to prove that he can lead his team in the playoffs. I think he is a quality quarterback to have but the Lions could have waited another year or mid season (if he is kicking ass)to extend his contract. I think they jump the gun for paying him big money.
I know the Cowboys over paid Tony Romo but @ JJ & the Cowboys. JJ is the Al Davis for the Cowboys until he dies.

Right now? Hell no. He's had one good year.
Give any QB 727 attempts and it would be pathetic if they didn't have 5000 yards. He had 2 years left on his deal. I would have let at least this year play out before I even considered extending him. Like I said, the only reason he got the extension is not because he earned it, but because the Lions cap situation was so bad they pretty much HAD to.
