Changes of Scenery: Turning a Bust into a Star

The Baldwin/Jenkins thread makes me wonder this.

What are some examples of guys who were busts for the team that drafted them, and then blossomed when they went to a new team?

I'm sure that some exist, but right now I'm having some trouble coming up with a good example. In particular, let's concentrate on high draft picks, but if you have others who languished and then became stars, throw them out there.

Favre flourished with his second team, but I'm not sure he was a bust with his first team. He just didn't play for them.

Priest Holmes flourished with his second team, but he was undrafted and had a 1,000 yard season with his first team.

Randy Moss flourished with New England after busting for Oakland, but he did pretty well with Minnesota before that.

Who ya got? Throw some names up here.

Clearly you do not understand the question. None of those 3 were high round picks, so how could they be considered busts?

Don't know how justified the Welker dump in SD was.

Steve Young and Doug Williams, but it's tough to tell if it was them or the miserable Bucs.

Kennison was way better here than in St. Louis.

He was a lesser version of Wylie who then went on to Miami before being picked up by NE. Nor was he ever close to being a high round pick.

I got you. I don't think a high rounder has been mentioned yet...

I don't remember enough about Williams to confirm or refute, but Young may be a good example. How was he with the Los Angeles Express before the Bucs? But nonetheless, he wasn't starting for the Bucs, so he seems like a good example.

Yeah, I guess he did have a 1000 yard year, but iirc it was one of those just over 1000 deals where he got there with a 3.7 average or something similar.

Even still, how can an UDRFA be a bust?

Doesn't count.

Eddie Kennison was good here after leaving Denver.
Tony Richardson and Brian Waters had both been cut by Dallas before coming to KC. They weren't high picks though...

7th overall to the Cardinals. Didn't flourish until he went to Chicago in his 5th season.
