*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*
Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!
**From the 2012 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

EDIT: Just added it to my cart on Amazon. There's tax. Seems that it's about the same price either way, then. |

Right, but I don't think that's usually the case. I think other things are usually MUCH cheaper online compared to a GNC or CN. Protein just seems to be the exception probably due to the price of shipping it figured into the starting price pre-ship.

It doesn't matter when you use it. The important thing is that you use it.

Add a squirt of chocolate syrup and milk. It's a chocolate shake...good enough that it's a treat rather than something to choke down.

I ate 2 cookies, a miniscule piece of cake, and I finished off about 1/2 a cup of a chocolate shake today.
How many weeks has this set back my gainz? |

About 4 weeks in. Starting to receive compliments. I'm guessing its because I have visible traps now. Make shirts fit so much better.
Up 10+ lbs for the month and I think my BF% is down. I hope to have this kind of progress for a while. I just add 5-10 lbs per week on each lift depending on what it is. Acne has started clearing too as my body is adapting to whatever I'm doing. |

Well this thread is unreadable now. It's like a woman who decides one day she likes sports.
Thanks, Buck. |

You're welcome. I'll tone it down and only talk serious issues and ask for advice.

Ran a 5k at Powell Gardens today. My very first 5k was this very same race last year. I finished last year in 30:02. Well, this year I'm 65 pounds lighter and I ran it in 23:17, almost seven full minutes faster. 9th overall and 2nd in my age division. The best part is, I haven't done ANY speed training this summer since it's gotten hot. I've still got it! But now I hurt.

Today I did: Squat - 3x5 - 145/155/165 (each set added 10) SLDL - 3x5 - 145 (I backed down to 115 after I first posted the above message to get my form down) Leg Press - 3x15 - 115 PWO (not sure if I messed up the number above or not, I might have given myself an extra 45 lbs on accident up there) Leg Curl - 3x15 - 60 lbs Calf Raise - 3 x 12 - 70 PWO So in 3 weeks is that decent progress? Should I add more next week. I feel like I could have probably easily done 155/165/175 on squats today. |
