So, who is in on this? I have never seen these guys live, and with the limited times they play in the US, I'm thinking it may be worth ponying up the money to check it out.... |

And secondly, that band is not something(at least for MY friend anyway)that is taken as life or death. I mean for ****s sake; it's AC/DC. Knowing John as I do, he'd probably get more kicks out of being in a Mentors tribute band. John and I go back to the original, KC, post-Dallas Billy Goat crew. He's a good enough player, believe me.

The drummer "IS" the beat. Angus and Malcolm didn't play ahead of Phil, they played behind him. Quote:

Why don't you tell us which amp the brothers used on Back in Black? The console it was recorded on? How the snare was mixed and what made it unique? That's just a few questions for starters. |

W/o looking, I believe they were Marshall Majors, the board was a Trident, and the snare, I really couldn't say. Perhaps he pissed on it?

1979 50 watt two input JMP head, tracked on a Harrison MCI, mixed on a Neve 8078. The trick with the snare was putting an Eventide 949 detuned 10 cents. |

I think I know how to write and definitely know how to play. Production and mixing, outside of tweaking some sounds on the board live and recording some home demos, really wasn't my area of expertise.

If I were so inclined to share this with you or the board, I'd have to contact some people and have some files sent. I haven't recorded in a long time, nor did I keep copies.

Sweet Daddy: I understand that you have a buddy involved in this. I'd stick up for a buddy in a similar situation...but these guys sounded terrible to me. I had to go listen to some AC/DC on YouTube just to wipe out the memory of their covers. And I'm not even overly fond of AC/DC. What I did notice from watching those guys is that all of instruments worked together in a synergistic wave of kick ass music. It's not some kind of deep music that will change the world but it's driving, energetic and fun to listen to. Bon Scott had a crazy style to his singing. I don't know, maybe he was half baked all the time, but he belted shit out and it rocked. Brian Johnson doesn't sound like that. To me he seems more focused, more tightly wound, when he sings. I think he does justice to the old stuff and I like the job he does. Like I said I'm not overly fond of the band. I do enjoy the music though. This KC/DC sounds just horrible if you listen to anything by AC/DC. It's like they are actively trying to kill the music.
