The day before Kansas State's NCAA Tournament opener, the Wildcats' star and senior leader was confined to a hotel bed.

Jacob Pullen did not participate in practice or media sessions Wednesday while suffering from high fever, flu-like symptoms and dehydration. The fever had broken by Wednesday afternoon, and Pullen is expected to play when the fifth-seeded Wildcats face No. 12 seed Utah State at 8:57 tonight.

Can, for the first time since 1988, I'm actually dreading this tourney. I don't normally get too emotionally attached to players from my teams. I USED to. But even CBB is like a rigged game. Probably not since Ro Blackmon and Ty Adams ( and maybe Mitch Richmond) have I really not wanted to see a season end.

But now... NOW I'm more worried about seeing Curtis Kelly not play again. And Jake too. So I think I'm preparing myself for the inevitable loss. Winning seems secondary.

Which is really strange for me. How weird is that?

you have players worth getting attached to, for the first time in a while (not meant as a slam), for the way they play and for the fact that they win...and you don't want them to go out in the cruel way this tourny dispatches people...

i felt that way about collins last year, even though he was a large part of the reason we lost...but i loved watching him play more than any player since Pierce...

True. Pullen is the only 4 year player i've seen do anything at K-State worth a damn.
