HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)
EDIT: Changed the original header to mark this as the thread where spoilers are allowed (but not necessarily recommended...). Created a new, spoiler-free thread for Ice and Fire virgins...
This is awesome... Huge, Huge News Nov. 11th, 2008 at 10:29 PM HBO has given the production order. They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES. It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass. It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series. More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already. Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn. Last edited by keg in kc; 04-25-2011 at 03:58 PM.. |

"Now, I'm finally digging into Dance..." The fact that you can say both of those things in the same post is why you won't be able to understand the negative reviews. And truthfully, they're not really negative reviews. Imagine reading through the epic last third of Storm and immediately picking up Feast for Crows wanting to know what happened to the major characters. You read and read, hoping that the next chapter will begin with 'Jon' or 'Tyrion' or 'Daeny', and then finally realizing 1/3 or 1/2 way through that they're probably not going to show up in this book. Feast is still a great book, but you had the benefit of having the next book ready and waiting. Of course, I don't have room to talk since I started reading them after Feast was released |

Any word on when the next book comes out? Finished "Dragons", hoping GRRM doesn't take the Wheel of Time route.

For me, it wasn't the wait (I only had to wait a couple of years), it was wanting to find out what happened to Jon, Tyrion, and Daeny, and not realizing they weren't in Feast. You're right, it's still an excellent book. Cersei's chapters were great, and I really liked learning more about Dorne. And I really liked Arya and Sam's development.

Here's a VERY short teaser and completely footage-free teaser for Season 2.
Did I mention that it's short? It's almost not worth watching, but I figured you junkies in here would want to see anything they put out. |

I'm reading the books for the first time and just hit that today. I've been loaning the books to one of my bartenders after I've finished them and she has been waiting a few days for this one (she apparently has more time to read than I do). I promised her I would have it for her when I go in tomorrow at 4. So I'm reading today and get to that part.... I've had a very hard time picking the book up since. I'm going to be hard pressed to fulfill my promise to her. That just sucked ass. Period.
