Yeah, it's a prequel. The thing in the Fall is the "Jack in Africa" story that they originally thought about for season 7.

So it IS a prequel and not just 2 less episodes for season 7
http://fox61.trb.com/entertainment/f...,5491550.story
Special '24' Two-Hour Prequel In November EMMY AND GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER "24" GETS A JUMPSTART ON THE CLOCK "Day 7" Season Premiere Clocks-In January 2009 Fans have been waiting almost a year for the return of 24, television's most addictive drama. On Sunday, November 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the wait will be over as FOX presents a special two-hour prequel event. Shot on location in South Africa, Jack Bauer battles an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, the prequel will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven. "We're excited about the prequel because it explores Jack's complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from 24," commented executive producer Howard Gordon. "Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone's commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans." Celebrating its 150th episode this season, the series has resumed production on "Day 7" and will unfold without interruption in its regular time period Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) beginning in January 2009. Set in Washington, DC, "Day 7" finds CTU dismantled and Jack Bauer on trial. Bauer's day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, President ALLISON TAYLOR (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside White House Chief of Staff ETHAN KANIN (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman HENRY TAYLOR (Colm Feore). A national security crisis prompts an investigation by a team of FBI agents including Agent JANIS GOLD (Janeane Garofalo), Agent RENEE WALKER (Annie Wersching), Agent LARRY MOSS (Jeffrey Nordling), Agent SEAN HILLINGER (Rhys Coiro) and security specialist MICHAEL LATHAM (John Billingsley). Although CTU is no longer, CHLOE O'BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events. As part of News Corp.'s global commitment to fighting climate change, 24 has pledged significant and innovative changes to its production practices with the goal of saving energy and reducing carbon emissions. Created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, 24 is a production of Real Time Productions and Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Jon Cassar, Manny Coto, David Fury, Kiefer Sutherland and Brian Grazer are the executive producers.

Looks like those keen on extra "24" next season will be sadly disappointed. Premiere Magazine interviewed actor Robert Carlyle who stars in the two hour prequel to air this Fall and he revealed that it won't be a separate movie after all - rather it will count as the first two episodes of the new season. "This two hours is two hours in real time and there'll then be 22 episodes. I don't know how they connect it to the first of those 22 episodes but it's literally the third hour" he says. Carlyle says he plays Carl Benton, Jack Bauer's former best friend whom he hasn't seen for a decade. "Jack's on his travels and he comes to see Carl and hang out with him and potentially change his life. Maybe." Shooting of his scenes took place in South Africa's Stellenbosch region which doubled for jungle in the fictional country of Sangala. |

My wife did a spa treatment with the actress that plays "Chloe" on Friday. Not only is she VERY pregnant, she's not filming right now. My wife said she was huge.
I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread but Kiefer told me that they've never used the first 6 hours of "24". By the end of the story arc, they've had to go back a re-do the first 6 episodes of every season because the ending never matches the beginning. Maybe this season will be different because they've had to much more time but I wouldn't count on it. |

Son of a bitch Dane!!!! I hate you!!!! not really. That truly sucks though. "Not enough time"? WTF???? There is no reason to steal 2 hours from 24 for this prequel. Gotta be a smokescreen for a season ending surprise. Let me dream.

If I came on here without "proof", everyone would hate even me even moreso (though I don't think that's possible). Let's just hope this a great season. |

BINGO!!!!!
http://community.tvguide.com/blog-en...on-7/800042204 Rumor Patrol: 24 Is Not Subtracting Hours from Day 7 Carlos Bernard, Keifer Sutherland, James Morrison and Mary Lynn Rajskub courtesy Fox Perhaps something was lost in translation...? In an interview with Premiere.com, Scotsman Robert Carlyle stated that the two hours covered by 24's November prequel movie will be applied against Season 7's episode count. "This is two hours in real time," he said, "and there'll then be 22 episodes." I caught wind of that Q&A via TVTattle.com and Carlyle's take didn't seem kosher, so I checked with Fox and confirmed that Day 7 indeed will be the usual 24 episodes/hours, wholly supplementary to the TV-movie. Carlyle also suggested that the final moments of the prequel will feed right into the opening scenes of Season 7, yet again, that is not exactly the case. The prequel itself picks up four years after the events of Day 6 — effectively planting Jack Bauer in the year 2017, if you have been keeping tabs — and then another few on-screen months will pass between the movie's sure-to-be-thrilling climax and Jack's appearance before Congress. — Matt Mitovich Jun 25, 2008 1:52 PM Oh, and......

Okay.
My wife didn't talk to Mary Lynn much about "24" on Friday so she really didn't get any insight. But I'll place a few calls this week to find out the "real" scoop. If I can, I'll post in the forum. If I can't, I'll PM. |
