What defensive improvments do you want to see?

Romeo introduced the new defense last year and while it was improved from years past we still have a ways to go....what improvements might you Chiefs fans like to see out of the defense this year?

Personally I'd like to see better pass coverage over the middle and more blitzing up the middle.

If DJ has another strong year and the sophmore's improve even more and get some good production out of a rookie or 2, we are going to be one of the top D's in the league again.
Arenas is a fine option at the number 3 corner. Solve the NT problem and this D should have no problem being a top 10 unit.

only?

you could make a case that needing a linebacker or two in a 3-4 defense is enough to make it more than "only" all by itself. You didn't even mention NT.

Shaun Smith needs to grab more balls. I won't be satisfied until he improves.

I'd like to see us hold opponents to less points and fewer wins.

I did forget to mention NT. But we aren't far away from being one of the most feared defenses in the NFL. I think Houston and maybe Bailey could make immediate contributions. We pick up a few FA's and we're good. I'm actually very optimistic about the future of our D. Romeo is gonna keep improving it.

I'd like to see more of a passrush as a team overall.

Better coverage from our linebackers, and better line play so our linebackers can be freed up and roam around in space to make plays.

Simple as that.

rooks are complete unknowns ... who knows, they may make us awesome.

Houston and Powe being studs would help us a ton

I thought we played too passive for a 3-4 last year but that could be due to the new system and lack of talent in certain positions. The way the Jets and Steelers play the 3-4 is how we need to be playing it. Pressure from everywhere at any given time.

Imo, we are limited. We don't have the personnel in the front 7 on D to do some of the things the Jets and Steelers can do. Romeo can't be as creative nor have as many options with the current squad he has.

I mean if one were to compare the LBing corps of the Jets and Steelers to the Chiefs its like apples and oranges.

We have the seconday to play more man than we do. I thought we played too much zone. Talent aside, this year we need to see more blitzing. I know everyone loves to hear that the "front 7" does it all but that, imo, is more 4-3 talk. 3-4 is a blitzing defense. That is what it is designed to do. Bring pressure from different areas at any given time to keep the offense guessing and force the ball to a certain part of the field.

Would like to see the Chiefs create some competition at ILB.
A veteran like Takeo Spikes might be a nice fit for a year or two.

We could also stand to sign a Nose Tackle.
