Tony Gonzalez 97% Sure On Retirement - Per Teammate
Per ProFootballTalk:
"Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez won a playoff game for the first time in his career last week, an experience that left him quite emotional after Matt Bryant’s winning field goal went through the uprights. According to tight end Michael Palmer, it didn't make him any less likely to retire. Gonzalez has been sticking with an answer of “95 percent” all season when asked about the chances that this will be his final year as an NFL player, but Palmer said that Gonzalez actually upped the likelihood that he’ll be calling it quits. He told me today he’s moving up to 97-percent sure after that win last week,” Palmer said, via Mike Garafolo of USA Today. “From what I can get from him, if we win the Super Bowl, I think he’ll ride off into the sunset.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...on-retirement/ |

I know players hate camp, but how can a guy be ok with himself knowing he's not putting in the hard work plus want to be paid more for doing less and being less productive. His good boy act was never hard to see through in the first place.

Who cares if the guy goes to camp?
I wouldn't even play him in preseason...maybe a couple series in the third game. The guy keeps himself in top condition and never needed training camp. |

If he comes back I think he will regret not stopping his career after a playoff win.

Tony G. was awesome. Hated to see him leave, but understood it perfectly. He just wasnt going to win anything here. This organization has never had the Lombardi trophy at the top of their priority list. Its a business for the Hunt family, and they pinch their pennies and put the bottom line above all else. If they should happen to luck into a SB win, great, but they never have gone out and really went for it, sometimes with metric assloads of cash just sitting there under the cap.

According to a report just on ESPN, it sounds like Tony has given his agent, Tom Condon, permission to negotiate with teams.
