KSU vs Alabama for Natl Champion - Who wins?

After watching KSU last night and granted it was against an overrated sports media hyped WVU team that has a Def ranked 115, however Geno is not overrated, he just can't do it all. KSU's game all around was just phenomenal and especially their D that I believe is just as good as Alabama.

Who wins this potential Natl Championship game?

30 people voted KState would beat 'Bama? I wonder how many of those actually believe it?

That isn't necessarily true. The more losses their opponents have the weaker their SOS becomes. It has already taken a hit this past weekend. And if Oregon does win out those losses they hand out hurt it even more.

And yes, the same goes for K-State. However, the Cats are already ahead of Oregon there. So both SOSs drop at the same time with Oregon behind, they stay behind.

Right now the biggest threat is ND winning out and pulling the human voters into their corner. Because they can't catch us in the SOS portion either.

I've always maintained that I'd be fine with a plus-1 system (or if you prefer different wording, a 4-team playoff). What I've been against is an 8, 10, 12, 16, etc. playoff.

I voted that way. I believe they would have a great chance of winning. And even if they don't, it would still be a much closer game than everyone thinks. This team is a head coaches wet dream. They have COMPLETELY bought into the program and execute it extremely well. AND they have a chip on their shoulder to prove to the world that yes, indeed they can. That makes for a very dangerous team. Yes, I really like their odds.

Not completely true. KSU has played their toughest part of the schedule already. It's impossible for their SOS to go up. However, Oregon has yet to play their tough(est) opponents. Over the next 4-5 weeks Oregon's SOS is going to rise while KSU's is going to drop. Even if USC, Oregon State, Stanford, etc. lose they are still higher quality games than Oregon has played thus far - so Oregon's SOS is still going to rise, but if their opponents drop game(s) it just won't rise as much.

Pretty sure I said it would do the opposite. My point is that Oregon's isn't going to rise enough to catch up. KSU is still playing against a ranked team this week, and could have 1 - 2 more depending on TCU and UT do from here on out. So I do not see it dropping dramatically. Certainly not enough for a moderately rising Ducks SOS. Plus the Cats are gaining in the human polls as well. If they can dominate all of their remaining teams the way they have been doing, and Oregon struggles to win in a game or two....

I realize there is an "if" or two in there but, I'm pretty comfortable with SOS argument.

You do? Good on you. K-State just seems so much smaller, and slower, than the major teams. I can't see how they would move the ball or how they would stop the big boys on O often enough to squeak out a low scoring win.

That's all well and good if you are making a movie. It doesn't mean much once the whistle blows though if you are facing a team bigger, stronger, faster.

I'm really surprised to see people think KState would have a chance; maybe you know something I don't. who knows? Maybe we'll get to see them play.

I really just don't see how K-State would stand a chance in hell against Bama. Big-12 Spread offenses do not work against SEC defenses. This has been proven over and over and over again. And that was with schools that had better than talent than K-State, like Texas and OU.

Again, ND and Oregon control their own destiny in this. K-State does not. And K-State took a huge hit this weekend with their "big win" over OU now not looking so big.

Even if K-State got in against Bama, jesus lord, it would be a throttling.

Ummm... why? College football is too good for a bush-league hand-picked champion system.

Because David and Goliath scenarios only play out in the Bible and movies. Never in real life.

Of course this could be straight up homer vision, I won't recognize it until after the game. But I don't think so. What Snyder has managed to accomplish up to this point is nothing short of awe inspiring. I think it is premature to put a cap on his achievements at this point in time.
