In general, are NFL players more athletic than NBA players?

Hootie seems to think Kobe Bryant is stronger than all the cornerbacks and safeties in the NFL, and that LeBron James would be the best NFL player of all time if he played the game. You know, because guys like Tracy McGrady and Stephon Marbury would just dominate as a WR in the NFL. Nobody could cover them.

He said that most high school kids have inflated athletic numbers because they aren't properly timed, don't use correct form on lifts, etc.

Everybody that has came with me has at least ran .2 higher than what they thought they could ran and waaay lower in all compound lifts. People are naturally lie about their athletic talent all the time. I laugh my ass off whenever I'm tailgating at arrowhead and I hear guys go, yeah back before I tore blew my ACL in high school I could run a 4.4 and bench 375. LOL

I honestly will extend this offer to anybody who thinks they can run under a 4.65. Although you may just be a great athlete and are not inflating how athletic you are, but I bet 9 out of 10 people that say that run no where near that fast.
Yeah, I could see the first point being true..I don't think my high school football/weight training coach was the most capable and outstanding guy when it came to timing, so I don't have much of an official barometer to gage my personal numbers off from. I could see that.

It's all relative Gonzo...the difference between you running a 4.8 and a 300 lbs. guy is huge. Much is the difference between your friend, a track guy, running a 4.45 when he is more built for running, and a huge tall and strong receiver doing it. Your point is moot. Have your friend run that when he's packed on another 100 lbs.

I know alot of fat asses sitting at their computers will say they ran that in high school, but we all know they didn't. At least Damon McIntosh has going for him is he is probably very strong, and rather agile and quick for his size.
WTF are you even talking about?

Amare Stoudemire, LeBron James, Dwight Howard ... these guys completely blow away everyone in the NFL.

You need to get a clue here.

Yeah..I get that...I suppose the difference between my buddy, who is fast and small and a 6'3" WR that weighs 70 lbs. more running a 4.45 is huge.

That further illustrates my point. NFL guys are running these fast 40's and jumping through the roof and they have a great deal of mass. NFL players are simply the best athletes in the world. I can't even imagine what kind of athletes they would find it it was more of a world game.

Set up an obstacle course that emphasizes speed, strength and agility. Take the top 20% performers from each league on the course and average their times. Who would you put your money on?

Or do the same with the decathlon. Give them a year to train. Who do you put your money on?

if you are talking about power, durability, leverage .... then it's the NFL

Get a clue? First of all, these guys aren't going to be as strong as most guys in the NFL. Their vertical leaps are going to be up there with some of the tops in the NFL, yes, but they definitely aren't going to be as fast. You could maybe put LeBron in there as potentially faster than the other guys but to say these 3 guys would completely blow away everyone in the NFL is moronic.

Can the "athletes" in the NBA take a crushing hit to the ribs.....and then get back up and go back out there and catch a TD?

How is running and jumping no contest the NBA? So you think Kobe Bryant could beat Calvin Johnson in a race? What about Chris Paul versus Randy Moss? No way.

I give the edge to NBA in endurance, length, and maybe some agility drills only.

You just don't seem to understand what athleticism actually IS.

LeBron James is quite easily a better athlete than any active player in the NFL. Period.
