The Decline of Customer Service

Either I'm on a cold streak, or customer service is generally taking a universal dump.

Lately, whether dealing with shipping issues, follow-up, repairs, or just general phone service, it's hard to find satisfaction in this area.

It really is an opportunity for companies to excel at this and draw great interest, but it's pretty rare. What are some companies that still provide outstanding customer support?

In 'N Out and Chick-Fil-A come to mind for food.
MacService has been great for me.

Where do you still get excellent service?

Yeah, mine smoked and smelt awful. And this was prior to standoffs that just come with the cases lately. We actually had to go out and buy rubber standoffs.

About two months ago my bill for Internet spiked up to $70 a month. Just for Internet alone. Granted, i have the good shit, but still....that's a stupid price.

So I call and talk to them about it and they offer me their absolute fastest internet and will do it for $50 a month for 12mo's (then it spikes to $99 a mo). I say, "ok, fine, w/e, i just wanna pay less right now".

I get home, do the speed test....it's exactly the same....

I call them back..."Oh, it's because you need this new expensive modem to go with it. That's an additional $300 we can bill to your account if you'd like".

**** YOU COX.

SERIOUSLY...**** YOU.

Worst ****ing company ever. Every time i call them i walk away pissed.

I called up to have the account transferred to my name, with my father on the phone, because he has terminal brain cancer and of all things he wanted to be sure to have his (sigh) Rams games.

"Well, we'd love to help you but after he passes..."

Whut?

This a real conversation?

Sadly, yes, it was.

I was mad at first but now our account will be under Indrid Cold...

Ones mentioned - QT, Chik Fil A and In n Out are all very good.

I usually get very good service at the UPS walk-in location I go to, though I've been to others that aren't so good.

I think Sonic is generally good.

I despise the door to door salesmen around here in California. I was cleaning out my garage last weekend and one of them walked directly past me (looked right at me) to go ring the doorbell. My daughter comes out the garage door to tell me that someone was at the front door.....right as he's walking back and walking up to my garage. He starts to tell me that he's licensed by PG&E (electric company) to offer customers their products. I stop him and tell him that I'm not interested. He then proceeds to get attitude and tell me that I didn't even let him tell me what he's selling yet. I told him I know exactly what he's selling....****ing solar panels and I didn't want one. Doesn't say shit....just turns around and walks off.

Tend to agree about Quik Trip. They aren't too bad.

My worst experiences have been with Comcast & Time Warner. Comcast has great services, probably the best cable company around when it comes to their internet and cable offerings, but terrible terrible customer service.

There are too many people out there who are always trying to game the system or get something free. The unscrupulous few freeloaders ruin any margin for leniency the rest of us might hope to enjoy every now and again.

Nordstrom is still great, and there are a few others out there.

I've always had good luck with DirecTV. CenturyLink can bite me though. They are our only option for "high speed" internet. We have constant problems with drop outs and slow downs and they refuse to do anything about it.

Dude, you are dead on. Cox is just ****ing terrible. Just a few weeks ago, we moved to a bigger apartment in the same complex. About 100 yards away. They charged me $75 to come out there and flip the internet on. The guy came inside for about 1 minute. Long enough to see that it was working and then he was outta there.

I've had some bad experiences with Directv too.

Absolutely this. **** up, you lose my business. I'm not dealing with dumbshits or being passive aggressively treated like I'm trying to get something for nothing.

Verizon is the best at acting like they care and doing zero. My verizon hate know no bounds. Century link is up there. Rural internet is a joke. And many srea cannot get HS at all. Mostly CS is dead.
