Supposedly Mike and Carol Brady were both widowed before they met and married. How common is it for a couple of under-35 people to meet as a widow and widower? Is it possible that they met, fell in love, had an affair, and then killed each other's spouses for the insurance money? That would help explain the nice big house and the maid.

But how do we know that Mike designed the house? Maybe they just bought it and moved in, and Mike's home office is full of his plans to expand and improve on it. He goes in there and works a lot, you know.

Carol got it in the divorce settlement along with a big fat alimony check. Mike's home office was originally the rumpus room.

I think they both scored big life insurance policies, met on the internet(ooops classified ads, it was the 70's) for new singles of insuranced spouses, and then of course, that funky 70's architecture w/o computers.

As the years passed nothing decorative changed, they kept the same furniture, lamps, everything, and those ugly green, yellow and brown colors.

Greg did get to use the office as a bedroom.

Keep in mind that Alice was Mike's maid before he married Carol...this leads me to believe that it happened this way: Alice had killed Mike's ex-wife so she could get some of that sympathy-lust...unfortunately for her, Mike already had an affair with Carol, who's ex-husband had died in the war. Alice plotted Carol's murder, but at the last minute decided that she shouldn't attempt getting away with two homicides.

Stephanie Powers with long term live in, William Holden, ends a 9 year stint when he falls down the stairs and mysteriously dies later that same year.
