Just caught the tail end of the info but 6 are injured and 1 death in these storms. Not sure if this was the Strafford area or the Monett area. Looks like we may have 1 or two more waves tonight yet but who knows. Stay alert and safe everyone.

Looks like the injuries and the death were all from Webster County

We had quarter sized hail and my sister-in-laws house lost it's roof in the Lebanon area.

I'm trying to keep my eye on the area, my best man, his wife, and 4 day old son live in Ozark. Please keep us posted if you can. |

Dang, that's one of the nastiest line of storms I've seen in a long time...
Here's the Storm Prediction Center's discussion on the issue: Quote:
Most storm systems rely upon solar heating to maintain structures like this, but you sometimes get just the right set up that the storms don't weaken that much after the sun goes down. However, one thing that it looks like may be developing is a more linear structure that will sap some of the rotational energy from the cells... but you can still get a lot of wind, hail, rain, etc. So yeah, if you're in this line, you're in for a rough night one way or the other: hang on. |

I've never been able to verify it, but I had a friend in the meteorology department at OU who was born on January 16th; he said that's the only day without a tornado ON RECORD. We always attributed it to our lack of success storm chasing with him, but I digress. So unless we're talking January 16th, there's always a chance... |
