Kansas City's Best Burger.

Recently, I've had quite a few debates about which Kansas City restaurant has the best hamburger. It's cut and dry for me, but it seems that there are a handful of different spots that typically get the nod.

I'm going to restrict the poll options to local spots, but I'm sure a few chains will be mentioned.

For me, it's Town Topic...with a bullet.

Your thoughts?

There's two very good burger places near Arrowhead. Hi-Boy Burger is just north of US 40 and Blue Ridge Cutoff. It's a true hamburger stand and is relatively unchanged since the 1960's. Big burgers -the double cheese is HUUUUUGE, onion rings are awesome and the shakes are some of the best in the city.

Another place called "Big Boy's" is further east on US 40 near Crysler. That's about a quarter mile east of where the old Blue Ridge Mall was just off I-70. They also have big ass burgers.

Both places are non-chain mom and pops.

Can't go wrong at either place.

Thanks for the tip.
You live in the northland and haven't been to LCs?

I was going to give you a pass, but now the gloves have to come off. That is completely unacceptable.

No sir, I live just north of Westport.
It's not far up the highway though. That's about 5 minutes up 29.

Is it LC's BBQ or just another restaurant with the same name?

I recall Snack Shack in Belton had damn good double cheeseburgers.

That was way back in 94, last time I ate there.

I just want to drop on and make my traditional ChiefsPlanet burger thread post about how overrated Westport Flea Market's burgers are. They really are.

You're thinking of Bob's Big Boy, with the fat kid holding a hamburger out front.

This one in Independence is a mom and pop, one of a kind. Been there since 1962. NOT part of a chain.

I think Town Topic is really good even when sober. Double Cheeseburger with an egg on it. One of the best. I don't know if I think there is absolutely a best when it comes to burgers. Some places that I think have very good burgers for one reason or another.

Town Topic
Westside Local
Fric n Frac
Five Guys
Grinders (it used to be bad but they upped their burger game)

One of my favorite neighborhood hangouts close to home is the Englewood Cafe in Western Independence. They make a really good burger, and have great breakfasts.
Old school diner food, and great home made pies too:
