For those who keep bringing up Stewart's anger issues in the past, can you please explain how that would be relevant here? What possible reason would Tony have to be pissed at Ward? Ward didn't wreck him or do anything to him. In fact, just the opposite happened. Ward was pissed at Tony, and it's Ward's anger issues that got him killed.
Hell it's very possible that that Tony didn't even know that it was Ward that crashed, or that Ward thought he was responsible for it, or that Ward would be coming for him on foot on the track on the very next lap around. Remember there are no spotters on these races. |

I hate to say the same thing over and over but tony stewart has done the exact same thing multiple times, in the same situation. are you saying he had no idea it was even a possibility? what about those rescue workers that could have been running on the track, what if one of them tripped and fell? ive seen it happen. drivers have to be aware, that's usually also brought up in the safety meetings. how many of them have you sat in on? |

Accidentally killing someone can still result in jail time if it's found you were acting negligently.

I'm apprehensive to get involved in this thread again due to the lack of facts and a seemingly abundant amount of bias one way or the other.
I do, however, want to say that the whole 'throttle to steer the car' argument is being blown way out of proportion. I drove street stocks and modifieds on dirt from age 16 to age 26, so I think I'm at least partially qualified to speak on it. While I've never driven a sprint car, there are many similarities between them and a modified. Here is a modified for reference. Dirt track racing, at least in the turns, is a lot like drift racing on asphalt. The tracks are watered down early and become tacky, but by the middle of the night, most tracks become what is known as 'dry/slick', which is why they appear shiny, almost like asphalt. This happens from the rubber being transferred to the dry track and causing a slick, hard surface on top of the dirt. To drive the cars faster through the turns, drivers over-throttle the car, causing the back wheels to spin and the rear-end to fishtail, or slide away from the turn. The cars turn just fine at normal speeds, but without the wheel-spin at high speeds, you can't corner at any sort of competitive rate. Tony stomping on the gas, in my opinion, was not to be able to turn the car in a hurry. I think, and again, this is my opinion, that Tony was trying to basically tell the kid to back off and Ward was simply too close to the car...the extreme stagger on the right rear tire, and it's oversize...coupled with the throttle being hit, caused Ward to get sucked under...and the rest is the rest. I in no way think that Stewart meant to kill this kid. I think he was being his normal, hot-headed self and was trying to buzz the guy's tower a little. It's a tragic accident and is sad for everyone involved.

and I think his anger issues are overstated here. but if he had seen the guy on the track it could have pissed him off I guess... |

For anyone, it is. Again, it's basic logic. Now, if you want to say that what you wrote was written incorrectly, and fix what you wrote, that's a different issue. With what you wrote, however, the last line essentially negates the earlier lines.
And since I've not gotten into anything that would be specific to this race, or even racing in general, you can go **** yourself with your "how many of them have you sat in on?" bullshit. |

and cant believe people are still saying they have to throttle to turn even after I posted a video and times of the video to watch the guy turn while under caution. hell he made over a 90 degree turn into the pits at close to caution speed and never touched the gas... |

Well I don't know what it's like to drive one of those buzz bombs but watching them it seems pretty damn chaotic, trying to keep track of where all the other cars are without spotter assistance while maintaining control of your own and watching what's in front of you has to be a tremendous amount of information to process. I gotta think there are going to be things you are going to miss, especially when it happens at your rear right blind spot. Just seems far fetched to play the anger card on this one.

Regarding the throttle blip, it seems happen when he is actually running over Ward, is it possible it is from the engine being able to spin freely because of wheel hop? Are these things one wheel wonder deals?
