HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)
EDIT: Changed the original header to mark this as the thread where spoilers are allowed (but not necessarily recommended...). Created a new, spoiler-free thread for Ice and Fire virgins...
This is awesome... Huge, Huge News Nov. 11th, 2008 at 10:29 PM HBO has given the production order. They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES. It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass. It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series. More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already. Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn. Last edited by keg in kc; 04-25-2011 at 03:58 PM.. |

Good episode.
Once again I'm impressed with the amount of foreshadowing and clue-dropping the directors are doing. For those who have read the books, there's so much to pick up on that will come into play down the road. As others have pointed out, the decisions that people make in the present often come back to haunt them. People's strengths are also their weaknesses.
Spoiler!

Doubt it. I am wondering if it will be some king of effed up baby as they keep playing up that dragon thing with her and her once alive brother. I just have a feeling that Khal is not going to get his son that will mount the world. Love it when he says that it cracks me up. Have a bad feeling with that witch doctor.
On the other side of things I am wondering where Starks youngest daughter is hiding out and if she will be OK. Love the fire in that girl. It was also cool to see that dude that had been touched by the white walkers. We seem to learn somethign new about the walkers each week. Just enough to keep us wanting more. |

My one complaint in the series, and it's minor, is that they are rushing the story as compared to the books. That's to be expected, especially given the size of the novel, but there just seems to be a fast forward button they're hitting to make sure they're cramming everything into this season. That being said, this series is fantastic. They've done a incredible job bringing the story to life.

Something else I like about the series is that, like the books, there are no out-and-out flashbacks to give you the back story. Everything you know about the time before the first scene of the series has been through dialog. It would have been very easy for them to have thrown in a few flashbacks to fill in the back story, and I'm glad they didn't. |

Okay, I must have missed something.
What in the hell was going on in the scene where Bram and the slave girl were at the tree? Who was the fat naked guy that just came over, stared at them a few seconds, and then walked off? |

The big dude is Hodor, the same guy who was carrying Bran around and has made a few random appearances here and there. He's a halfwit, who says nothing but Hodor, and will have his part to play before it's all said and done.

I just didn't get the point of him being there in the nude at all, but granted I was not sober when I watched it last night. |
