I don't think you have to be tech savvy to do it. With a motherboard/CPU combo from newegg, you can get something already assembled and you just put a few cables in here and there. And they can only go in one place.

The big thing to be careful on is making absolutely sure the power supply COMPLETELY matches the MOBO. My last MOBO/CPU rebuild I had a great power supply, but it had one ONE!! pin that was different from the new standard, so I ended up having to add a new PS [not as good as the 'old' one] to the purchase.

When buying any combo or building from parts, the one thing you have to account for before anything else is whether or not you have a Windows license you can use.
A new Windows license is anywhere from $100 to $175. |

Building your own tower is pretty simple, but there are some subtle nuances that you need to be careful with. I've burned up enough MoBo's to know that they can indeed get ****ed up if you don't do everything right.
Computers aren't hard to assemble....at all. But if you are planning on building one, you need to take your time, watch some videos on youtube and be very, very thorough, and make sure that everything you buy is compatible with each other. Checkout http://pcpartpicker.com/ |

not unless you want to be back in this thread in 6 month wondering why your PC is still slow as shit.
Especially when that DIY combo will cost 100 bucks more and stretch you out for a much longer time. |
