Browns Starting Campbell

Jason Campbell to start for Browns this week

Posted by Darin Gantt on October 23, 2013, 11:03 AM EDT
Jason Campbell
AP
After hedging for a few days, Browns coach Rob Chudzinski has made a change.

Per Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, Chudzinski announced that quarterback Jason Campbell would start this week in place of Brandon Weeden.

If there was ever any doubt that the Browns were ready to hit reset at the position this offseason, this should clear it up.

Campbell was leapfrogged by Brian Hoyer earlier this season, and if they’re willing to replace Weeden at this point, he’s clearly not part of their future thinking.

Campbell started a game for the Bears in 2012, and has also played some replacement-level football for the Raiders and Redskins.

He’s the 20th Browns starting quarterback since 1999, while he sets the stage for No. 21.

O-line in Chicago and Campbell was up against an elite D. He did suck in that 1 game though. Im not sure of the situation vs Baltimore but yes he's no Montana comeback kid lol.

He now has a week to prepare and focus on his gameplan as the starter. I'm not saying he will be all pro, I'm just stating that he can win and he will try to not lose the game. I have seen him make some great throws against a playoff bound and eventual AFC west champs Chiefs a few years back. He threw a beautiful pass in OT to ford (who beat flowers) for a game winning field goal!
No. Comparing the situations to how he performed against an elite defense on the road. Something he will be doing this week as well.

The Browns right side of the line, is in flux very much like last years Bears team was. Also, I am basing this off of the stuff I have seen.

He was awful in the preseason, he was awful in his limited work.

And on top of that, he is on a team that has quit.

I think it's much more accurate to look at what he's done this year, or last than say, I saw him look good a few years ago. Matt Cassel looked a few years ago too.

A team like the Rams would love to have Campbell right now, so lets not pretend Campbell is a bum. He has won games in the NFL!

I'm curious what his record is against the Chiefs? Anybody know?
He was third string.......on the Browns.

Remember, I watched Campbell a hell of a lot more than you fellas. Not that it was a good thing.
I watched Campbell's entire career with the Redskins. He scrambles like Franskenstein. Cambell's bassically a fully reeruned version of Joe flaco. Has a big arm, can throw a deep ball, but has no accuracy and wants to throw 4 yard passes to pad completion percentages.

The browns fan has spoken and i'm inclined to agree, they can bring on anyone they want... can they get Bernie Kosar in a 12 step program that works reeeally fast?
