Wow. People would rather be 3-5 with their guy as opposed to 8-0 without. That right there tells you how ****ing batshit crazy some of you are.
Frank....don't try and reason with people who can't see the big picture. The reality is that many teams passed on Geno Smith because they see something the Jets didn't. He could develop into a decent QB over time, but with all the pressure in NY I am seeing a rough year or 2 for him.

With all the right moves that Reid and Dorsey have made thus far I am more inclined to trust their judgment that Smith didn't have the tools for the Offense they want to build here.

But evidently some believe they have more insight than those 2.

But would you rather take those growing pains with Geno, or be 8-0 with Alex and be in the driver seat toward a first round bye in the playoffs?
What would our Sagarin rating be with Geno. That is the important question.

8-0 with Alex Smith and Tyler Bray learning from the sidelines is a thousand times better than whatever record Geno Smith would have with us this year. Alex gets the lead every week in the first half and then gets very conservative with his throws and lets the defense dominate and force mistakes. That's a winning formula. Sure he could take chances in the second half of games to extend the lead but why would he. Andy and Alex plus this defense will break our string of 1st round playoff losses this year.

Never play not to lose.

It's not a strategy. Reid likes short passes and YAC. Pretty soon, that lead will no longer be good for a half.

I can't even believe this is a subject of debate. The window of opportunity for a good number of these players is closing within the next couple of years (Flowers, DJ, Charles, Bowe, Hali etc) and with the way the NFL is set up it is very hard to win in this league. This team is set up to win now.

I would much rather be 8-0 with an almost certainty of making the playoffs where anything can happen than possibly sitting at home again saying "wait till next year". Between the two Smiths, Alex gives us the best shot to win now while our window is still open. We have a QB that we can take our time in developing, Bray. I don't want to blow this opportunity to win it all now so we can develop a franchise QB that we will have to rebuild around. When Bray is ready we can rebuild around him.

It is sad that this fan base is so obsessed with a first round QB that they would sacrifice this season for one. Especially when there is no guarantee that he will develop into a franchise QB.

Sad that you would rather root for a team sitting at home for the playoffs than one that is in it. Geno in spite of your belief is anything but the savior, but hey just ruin the careers of our star players by drafting a QB in the first that NO other team thought was #1 much less first round material. AS is by no means a HOF QB but he puts us in a better position to win it all now while our window is open. But you can't see that because you continue to act like a jilted lover because the Chiefs passed on your guy.

Wrong. I already stated I'd rather go through a year with Bray learning on the job and going all in next year to win the whole damn thing. Keep building those strawmen though.

So you would throw away a season in which we have the talent to not just make the playoffs, but possibly make noise in it all for the opportunity to develop a QB who may or may not ever pan out?

Well we just need to give the 1st overall right tackle time to grow into the job.

, I just looked up Alex Smith's rookie record, the 1st overall pick.

FACTS

2-5 84 for 165 50.9 % 1 td, and 11 interceptions

Geno

4-4 150 for 253 59.3 % 8 tds, 13 interceptions

They really ****ed up letting him learn on the job. Just think maybe they had a shot to win it all in 98 by trading for Ty Detmer.
