Jonathan Martin leaves Dolphins after 'breakdown'

An unusual situation is unfolding in Miami, where Dolphins right tackle Jonathan Martin has left the team after suffering an "emotional breakdown" this week.

NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported Wednesday that Martin is currently seeking help with his family after an incident at the team's cafeteria, according to team sources.

Martin is listed on the team's injury report with an illness, and is doubtful to play Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Martin was the victim of a prank at the cafeteria, becoming enraged enough to "smash his food tray on the ground."

The second-year pro has not been with the team since that time. Darlington reports that Martin immediately sought treatment at a local hospital. He has since left the hospital and is now spending time with his family, according to team sources.

Martin opened the season as the Dolphins' replacement for Jake Long at left tackle. He was moved to right tackle when the team acquired Bryant McKinnie via trade last week. Tyson Clabo is expected to start in Martin's place on Thursday.

You have a coaching staff oblivious to this happening. An organization working off prepared statements and probably covering this up. Nutcases being appointed to leadership councils. Harassment that went way beyond the locker room to your own teammate, no less. Potentially group harassment.

And if Incognito's Dad's story is true that Martin tried to commit suicide several times, then this behavior goes from terrible to puke-worthy.

Bald Bryan on Carolla show used to coach at Martin's High School, and he says that the culture at that school was 'massive pussies.'

Parents would pull kids from football practice, I mean mid-practice, to study or for a violin recital.

The head coach pulled Bryan aside if he cursed or even got a mean voice while urging players on in practice.

Regular conversations about phrasing coaching in positive, not negative, terms.

'Lily-white rich private school pussies'

Just passing it along, no knowledge of it's veracity or applicability to Martin personally.

It doesn't matter where Martin came from period. I dgaf if he came from a insane asylum. We are judging the actions of incognito not wether or not Martin is too big of a baby because of where he grew up

It's not a good point. I didn't make any assumptions about him. I did what a good doctor does when presented with a handful of symptoms that could be caused by several different things. I identified a reasonable possibility (as opposed to the ludicrous possibilities you identified) and pursued a further examination (one that involved low cost testing, no less) to either confirm or rule out that possibility. I have concerns about whether or not you're cut out for this medical thing.

So they were smart, is that what this information implies...you know being that 99.9999% of highschool football players don't receive scholarships.

Why don't.ask if Martin is available? I've seen many posts bout Incog-****face-o being available, but what about Martin? Obviously the kid can play OLine as well, he just couldn't do it with Richie anymore. I'd rather the younger kid who can play who might be a bit reserved in his personality, than a giant ****ing asshole cancer who can play the game. Even if Martin is a pussy, he isn't on the field.
I get that he isn't available, but I love that people would rather have the cancer in our locker room than someone who can play but may have had a timid upbringing and it shows in certain ways.
So let me say it,

Martin? Bring him for a look? God knows we need help.
