It'd be nice if I knew what D every team runs ahead of time.

I don't think it gets selected until the season starts.
But I agree, that does seem like it's generally common knowledge. We can kinda guess by roster construction, but sometimes it's fairly difficult.

For example, I can look at the Jets and see that they are currently running a 3-4. My first round draft pick, Sheldon Richardson, is playing what I assume is a DE3, although on the team's official website, the depth chart lists him as a DT (the other two linemen are listed as NT and DE). PFF lists him as a DE. The only unknown is whether the players will be a fit for more than one season, because the NFL team could switch schemes a year from now or the player could switch teams in the off season.

You can look at their current depth charts to see what they're running. There are also websites that list the current 3-4 or 4-3 teams (e.g. 3-4 wiki, but I can't personally vouch for their accuracy.

The 4 win team I inherited had a mix of 3-4 & 4-3 players. I find out now that MLB & ILB are different & we get penalized. Just a quick glance at your roster patteeu & you're full of these differences. You have 5 LB's that are 4-3, 2-SLB 3-WLB a 3-4 DE, four 4-3 DEs, a MLB & OLB 3-4 a misnamed Sheldon Richardson, he's listed as DT, should be DE in a 3-4. three 4-3 DT's' and a partridge in a peartree. Now, how in the world am I suppose to figure out what your D is? See what I mean?

Aside from that, I'm not sure what the problem is (aside from not realizing that OLB vs WLB/SLB and ILB vs MLB meant). I have a mishmash of these players because I decided that I'd rather try to target good players (admittedly with only limited success) than start out by worrying about the out-of-position penalty on the assumption that the penalty wasn't as great as the difference between a good player and a bad player. Now that I'm a season into the game, I'll try to work toward a roster that is more consistent with the scheme I'll play.* I played a LT at RT all of last season on the theory that my 2nd best LT was a better player than my best RT. I don't know if that hurt me or helped me, but in the real NFL I'm pretty sure William Beatty would have started ahead of any of the RTs on my roster so I went with it. As it turned out, with a bunch of no-names at skill positions, I think my offensive line must have been treated pretty favorably by the sim based on my competitive results. ____ * I played a 4-3 last year because 4-3 DE was a strength. Haloti Ngata had to play 4-3 DT instead of the 3-4 DE he played last year. When I drafted this year, I started out with the assumption that I'd try to get 4-3 players, but I took Sheldon Richardson in the 1st as BPA, one of my better 4-3 DEs switched to 3-4 OLB, Ngata moved to NT and with most teams playing 3-4, I'm having second thoughts.

I think that's the philosophy to go with. As long as you're not making radical position changes, I think a team is better served having the best players on the field even if their positions are tweaked a little from the NFL. Obviously, putting a FS at MLB is going to have implications, but moving a 4-3 MLB to 3-4 ILB, or FS to SS isn't that big a leap. Think about Derrick Johnson moving from 3-4 ILB to 4-3 MLB. I'd put him there in a heartbeat over some journeyman who's listed as a 4-3 MLB.

patteeu, I ended my last sentence with
No disrespect intended. I wanted to look at other rosters' real quick & see if I could tell whay D they were running & decided to look at yours while I was there. I'm not that dumb, lol, I know the ways of finding out what D each team runs. Trust me, everything you guys' mentioned I already do/know. I'm angling here, anything to help move some 4-3 guys'. Do you have to declare a defense? I mean technically you could carry enough players to switch between a 4-3 and a 3-4 if you wanted to.

The OKC Outlaws are open to trading Jerod Mayo, who is on a 1-year deal and out for the season with an injury, but he's young, extremely talented, and would be a great player for a Sandbox team that is working on slowly building up over a couple seasons.
The Outlaws will mortgage the future and take whatever kind of deal they can get for Mayo. They'll accept draft picks, and pretty much any other player on their roster can be added to the deal as well. If player trades are made, the team is looking for help especially at WR, CB, and 4-3 DE. |

I assumed you were talking about NFL teams, in which case we do. Maybe you were talking about Sandbox teams, but I don't understand why we care. Anyway, I didn't intend to insult your intelligence. I was just trying to be helpful. Glad to hear you didn't need it.
