The much needed wake-the-****-up slap.

Nobody had @Denver as being a win anyway. It doesn't make the Chiefs any less good for losing @Denver than it does when Denver drops one in KC. Denver and KC are tough places for road reams to play.

With the loss, the Chiefs go to 9-1. However, now it is glaringly obvious just how bad the offense needs improvement, and work, in ALL areas. Playcalling, execution, and decisionmaking.

Andy Reid no longer has the "W" to brush off any criticisms about the offensive performance. This offense is quite honestly, a dumpster fire. When 80% of your passes don't go further than 10 yards past the line of scrimmage, that's a fundamental ****ing problem through either scheme, or lack of ability, or both. No offense that has its sights set on a championship runs such a conservative, low production passing attack.

There were shots downfield in this game, yeah. However, they were the first time all season such consistent shots were taken and clearly it is not something that this Chiefs offense is comfortable with, or particularly good at.

This defense is for real. They held an offense that averages 42 points per game to 27, and gave our offense PLENTY of chances to get the lead in this game, including multiple 3 and outs against Manning and also securing a turnover inside the Denver 20 yard line down by only 3 points.

The offense is the weak link. The conservative bullshit has got to go. Its nice to never turn the football over, but it is NOT nice to never score any points. Alex needs to turn it loose, and if he cant produce, move aside.

No risk, no reward. You need look no further than Alex Smith's passing stats, TD/INT in particular to see that.

Reid needs to take a long look in the mirror as a playcaller. He has not done a good job at all this season. Brad Childress has had great success in calling offense in his career in his time with Minnesota, and Doug Pederson is a former Quarterback. Perhaps it is time to give one of these guys a shot and see if the offense doesn't produce a little more, as they would be hard pressed to do worse with an offense that struggles to put up 17 points.

This was as good a time as any for this reality check to happen. How Andy Reid and Alex Smith respond to this will define what this team will ultimately be this season.

Again, bullshit. The offense needs to put points on the board. We've gone from the exact opposite of blaming Trent Green for not scoring 40 points to blaming the defense because they didn't put points on the board.

There was absolutely no chance of winning this game without turnovers, sacks, and winning field position...
And that's ****ing bullshit to ask the defense to score points because our offense can't. Do you understand the job the offense is supposed to do and the job the defense is supposed to do?!

You're right - it's on the D coordinator.

Slowing Denver was never going to win this game.

We absolutely HAD to have turnovers and likely a Defensive/ST TD to win.

You create those - they don't happen playing safe...

The ONLY reason we needed that was because our offense couldn't do their job. THEIR JOB IS TO SCORE ****ING POINTS.

It's our only chance to win.

Is it fair for Denver to expect the offense to score 30 every week to win?

No, but they know what they have to do and they do it. They know what they are and that's how they play.

The defense's job is to get after the QB...both are equally important.

We don't have a QB.

That makes our defense even more important...

Yeah, a lot of fans have overlooked just how bad Reid's offense with Alex Smith has been so far. It needs to improve if this team intends to do anything meaningful.

JFC. We aren't going to win that way. Not games that matter anyway. Might as well line 'em up to play iron man football. Expecting our defense to outscore Peyton Manning is about as dumb as you can get it.

This game just proved what most realistic people seem to already understand.

The interior of the offensive line is weak sauce...
The WR's are limited in depth and talent
The Quarterback is adequate but the Chiefs will never win a game BECAUSE of him.

The Chiefs are good enough to beat Denver at home....which proves that they HAVE to win home field advantage to be more than a wet fart in the playoffs.

Our defense isn't supposed to out score manning you tard.

It's supposed to hurry him, hit him, sack him, intercept him, force fumbles.

YOU HAVE TO CONSISTENTLY COME AFTER HIM to do that.

It's not a secret. Manning is going to get big plays no matter what type of D you play so you might as well hurry him, hit him, and make him pay...

No, the defense's job was to stop Denver from scoring points. Something they did better than the other 9 teams Denver faced, including the team that beat them. They did their job, only allowing 17 points through three quarters while our offense choked itself to death. Again.

Saying that our Offense can't and won't change is an absolute shit reason to overtly blame the Defense that held Denver to 27.
