AFC West race

So we are now tied with the Donks at 9-1. The loss yesterday sucks but it isn't season defining by any means. We still control our own destiny for the division and a first round bye which is all that any team can ask for coming down the stretch.

So how much chance do you give the Chiefs to win the division? Here is the remaining schedule for each team.

Dungver:
@ NE
@ KC
vs Tenn
vs SD
@ HOU
@ OAK

Chiefs:
vs SD
vs DEN
@ WAS
@ OAK
vs IND
@ SD

Looking at the remaining schedules it is pretty clear that the next two weeks will in all likelihood decide the division. I think we win this week and the Donks lose at the Patriots. Then at home against Denver we would have a good chance to put a two game difference between us. After that, I am assuming that Denver will win out. However, one game that could be interesting is at Houston. They have the offensive horses to keep up, and some playmakers on defense, so that game could be very interesting.

I don't see Washington or Oakland as a threat. Then after that, Indy is clearly not the same without Wayne. They really have not looked too good as of late. Luck has done his thing but I don't see how they score against our defense in Arrowhead.

The the last game at San Diego, will in my estimation, be a throw away game for San Diego. Sure they will want to beat us, but if they have recently been eliminated from the playoffs they won't be 100% invested. Also if the next two weeks and subsequent games after that go as I think they will, that game won't matter to us either as we will already have the division and first round bye locked up.

I really think that after these next two weeks we will be 11-1 and the Donks will be 9-3. That gives us a one game cushion to lose a game we shouldn't or to not have any real importance to the last game at San Diego. I think we end up at 14-2 and Denver at 13-3.

How does everyone see this thing playing out? We weren't going 16-0, so although yesterday's loss is annoying and I would have rather lost at Buffalo than at Denver, we are still in a pretty good spot. These next two games are huge, and though it is possible I am being a too much of a homer, I really think we will be back in first placem, and quite possibly up by two games, after our Denver game in Arrowhead.

Yeah, Oakland is not a threat to us but, Houston who just lost Oakland is a potrntial threat to Denver?

I don't follow that logic.

Not predicting it, just saying they have the horses to compete.

Your crazy. Wash is a mess. Indy is dead and will not win in KC. Denver and SD with both lose in KC. Oak and at SD will be tough but winable. I fear the Oak game the most. That will be maybe our only other loss.

RGIII running around will be tough to stop.

San Diego playing with nothing to lose is also tough. Don't cross it off yet.

The next two weeks are huge. We've got to bounce back at home against the Chargers and then after we do that watching the Donks and the Pats in the night game should be fun.

Since this team is basically 2003 in reverse, I'm going with 13-3 and no playoff appearance FTWFML.

Yep. If we get that victory and then watch the Patriots win, this game and entire week of questioning ourselves will be an after thought.

Yeah but no matter what the donks do we'll still be playing for the division lead at Arrowhead in two weeks if we take care of the Chargers.

Denver has opened at -3 at New England. This implies they would have been -9 versus them at home.

The logic behind it still fails me.

And never count out your oldest rival. Those games are typically close even in years where they really shouldn't be.

I am not sure what logic it goes against. The NFL is about matchups. It seems like your logic against it is that because team A beat team B then team B shouldn't be able to beat team C, but we know it doesn't really work that way.

It flies in the face of the fact that Houston is so horrible right now that they kost yesterday, at home, to the joke that is the Oakland Raiders.

Sure there is the any given Sunday factor but, that applies at least as equally to Oakland/KC if not more so. To suggest otherwise is illogical.
