*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*
Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!
**From the 2012 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

After enjoying the pre and post marriage laziness for a while I started going back to the gym a few months ago. It felt so good to lift weights again. We had been doing some cardio stuff with our bikes and running in our neighborhood but it just isn't the same. So now we both go together making it a lot easier to not skip workouts.
I have always been very good cardio wise but I have never been able to get that really in shape look. I am not trying to get huge but I do want to really get that good muscle tone and burn as many calories as possible. Is it better to max out on weight or lift more moderately with maximum reps? I typically prefer free weights but is it better to mix it up with machines? |

I have lost 16 lbs since I started going to the gym, 9 of which since I started seeing a personal trainer a couple of weeks ago.

I worked my pecs and shoulders, basically ate roasted chicken drums and protein mix.
I'm so beat down tired, I really have a long long ways to go. But I'll keep plugging away |

do you all still do creatine, what's the latest school of thought on that - also, powder or pill or does it matter? I know this has been covered, but if you don't mind. .......?

Is it better to do cardio before weights? Or after weights?
Is that more of a just a personal thing and it doesn't matter? |
