Early afternoon bullshit: the Chiefs in post-Manning era

Peyton Manning has 1 more year at most IMO. I think he'll play next year, but after that he's done. I think there's a 30% chance he hangs 'em up tonight if he wins, but hopefully the Donkey's lose.

This begs the question...how do you feel about the Chiefs in the post Manning era? Keep in mind Brady is winding down too. He looked horrific in his last game and it begs the question of if he can win on the road in the playoffs.

I think that once Manning retires Denver will fall to the depth's of mediocrity. They'll be a 6-8 win team at best. I don't believe in Brock Assweiler.

I think the Chargers will be a little worse than last year. Ken Whisenhunt leaving is a huge loss for them IMO.

Obviously you have teams like the Colts and Ravens who will always be in the thick of it, but I think that we're going to have a lot of chances to be in the postseason in the near future. I like how Dorsey is building this thing and I think his draft picks from year 1 will show much more next year.

I think we are in a good position. Obviously we aren't beating Manning now, but build this team up so that we can take over when he's done. We have the GM IMO. We have the coach. We have the QB. Hell Russell Wilson, Tom Brady in his first SB appearance, Big Ben in his first SB appearance, Trent Dilfer, Rex Grossman..all of these guys were game managers and I think Alex Smith can be a better version of those guys when they were in those particular SB's.
Either way I'm ready for the ride.

Go Seahawks!

You have to understand the Manning family.

Growing up watching his dad Archie for many years I am well aware.

This family is all about football. Passing academy, etc.

No one knows for certain how much longer Peyton will want to play.

I don't think it's about the rings though brother Eli has 2.

He said it himself, it's all about the preparation.

When he doesn't want to wake up and spend countless hours doing film study and whatnot before games that's when he quits.

Right now he still loves the game and everything about it.

God knows he doesn't need the money.

When he wakes up and doesn't want to go into the office that day it's over.

Our best shot is to counter punch by adding a stud safety to pair with Berry and to continue to try and bolster the pass rush...especially from the DL. Hopefully, Bailey, Catapano and Powe can help with that.

We need to find a way to limit them from being able to get the big plays (Lewis and Robinson being gone should help) and then focus on being creative in the ways we try to get pressure on him.
This would be best. Once Manning steps down the Chiefs would be stacked and ready to crush whatever average guy they stick behind Manning.

Except they haven't beat the Chargers twice in a season in how long? Let alone win at home without freak fumbles and kick returns.

San Diego and Denver run the AFC West. Period. KC and Oakland are pretenders at best until they get a real franchise QB.

Unless he's injured, I'd agree. If he throws for 1500 less yards and 20 less TDs than this year, he'd still have some of the best numbers in the league.

After this game it's pretty simple. Draft pass rushers and physical DB's

We need Hageman to fall in our laps. And Cooper to grow in his 2nd year. And I'd pay Bennett.

To talk about the "post manning" era is pretty muchly saying the Chiefs can never beat Denver with him playing. Forget that and figure out a way to crush him and make him wish he never had to face the Chiefs again.

No, we're not.

Somebody just needs to remind Bob Sutton that it's okay to blitz once and a while and I think we'll be just fine.
