You could make a second list of five Best Actor nominees out of those who weren't nominated, and make a compelling case for each of them to win over the actually-nominated list.

Joaquin Phoenix (Her)
Robert Redford (All Is Lost)
Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips)
Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station)
Oscar Issac (Inside Llewyn Davis)

Gravity ruled, you dolts. Technically mind-blowing; intense score; human story; uses sci-fi tropes to disguise the fact that its true form & genre is the disaster film; totally succeeds in being gripping as hell despite some shallow points in the script; a movie-going experience like no other I've seen.

How is Gravity NOT an innovative movie? It didn't follow a standard plot template. It was every bit about the experience just as it was the movie. In its effort to become as realistic as possible, it actually got a lot of things right about being an astronaut. It had a TWO person cast. I mean, when's the last time you saw a best picture movie that had that few people in it? The Pianist?

Again, you don't have to masturbate to the movie and you don't even have to enjoy it. But come the **** on, it's not innovative? Some of the people on Twitter have been acting like the movie may as well have been ****ing Pacific Rim.

I don't consider myself a movie connoisseur so I'll have to take your word for it. I didn't "get" any of that at all.

It looked great but that's it.

Technically speaking, Gravity was incredible. It deserved to sweep all the technical awards. I'm glad it took all the sound awards as well as the visuals. I thought the score and sound mixing was just as good if not better than the visual effects.
