Jets cut Mark Sanchez
The Mark Sanchez era is over.
Sanchez, the quarterback who went to the Jets with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft and has been a polarizing player since, has been released. The Jets officially announced the long-awaited move on Friday afternoon. At his best, Sanchez showed promise as a player who could develop into a franchise quarterback who would lead the team for years to come. But he had significant flaws as a passer, flaws which were often overlooked in his first two seasons, when the Jets rode a strong defense to the AFC Championship Game. Later on, when the Jets’ defense didn’t play quite as well, it became more apparent that Sanchez simply didn’t have what it took to lead a team to a winning record. The Jets’ baffling decision to give Sanchez a contract extension in 2012 was followed a year later by the decision to draft Geno Smith in 2013, which sealed Sanchez’s fate. Now Sanchez becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team. Someone will surely pick Sanchez up and let him compete for a roster spot, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be a starter in 2014. Sanchez has a lot of work to do to turn his career around, and if he ever does it, it won’t be as a Jet. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-mark-sanchez/ |

Isn't Sanchez the chap who the Draftabulators wanted to draft? If so, what do they think now?

The Jets drafted a 1st rd QB and tried to develop him. They took a chance and it didn't work out. Although they did get to the AFC championship game with Sanchez. Now their on to developing geno.
Any Chiefs fan saying Sanchez is horrible (glad the chiefs didn't draft him) remember that he has more playoff wins than the Chiefs do in 44 years. Maybe Dorsey will suprise everyone and draft a QB in the 1st Rd. Heck maybe even move up in the draft if some of these QB's slide in the draft. |

Hahahahaha, "We want Sanchez! He's going to be awesome!"
"We want Geno Smith #1 overall! He's going to turn this franchise around!" Jesus Christ, lol. |

so no difference really, two different style of QBs that need a top 5 defense and top 5 running attack to get there. Neither got there on their own talent or will ever go back there on their own talent. |

Sanchez has never gone over 56.7% in completions in a season.

I'd take Sanchez if it mean a #1 defense and a top running attack to get there. He's not what brought them there, but I'd take that constructed roster on the Chiefs anyday. Shit QB with all that talent and a punchers chance? sure. Better than having a decent QB and then no depth or talent and 4 guys that eat up 10 million a piece. |

are you say Alex Smith got there without a #1 defense?
are you saying Alex can get back there without a top 5 defense? Because he just proved in the playoffs he cant all by himself. And I like Alex, but he's still a QB that needs a good ****ing defense. There's not many QBs that don't, but he falls in that good QB/needs a defense tier that many others do. |
